We're looking at possible furloughs in a couple weeks. If that happens, this ride will be my last giggles trip for a while. :(
::026:: Same here. Although I took no time off this past summer. If it happens I might actually go for a ride for a while. That said, I'd prefer it not to happen.

I share your angst about potential coming furloughs and was around when it happened in 1995. The problem was that we had to be available to go to work the day after a deal was struck for the new budget.

So in addition to not getting paid, we didn't know how long we would be without pay, still had to pay the mortgage & to eat, and we employees were stuck with the employer's bills for any outstanding travel/VISA payments because the expense report people also got furloughed. PLUS we couldn't GO anywhere or make plans, because a deal could be struck at any minute for a new budget, and we would need to report the next morning as if nothing was different.

No politics - just how it was.

Exactly. If they'd just say "Don't show up for two weeks." I could plan accordingly. So for now I'm just hunkering down, lining up some side work, and crossing my fingers.

::026:: Same here. I've taken 3 days off this entire year. Looking at a bunch of use or lose, just need to know what the schedule is so I can plan!
