Is anyone regularly hitting or breaking 200 miles or more per tank?

I have a daily commute that sees me in the 50-60mpg range because it only averages 50mph on a flat road lined with law enforcement. On the local freeways, where 80mph and up is more common, the mileage can dive into the mid to high 30's. So, if the tank is mostly local commuting I'll see the...

What do we now think of the bike

I went from an ST1300 which was too stiff to be comfortable on long trips and a V-strom 650 which was a bit small and didn't have the most comfortable seat. I was nearly ready to give up on long distance biking altogether after taking an 800 mile trip one day that left me in tears from butt...

    Hot weather gear

I agree with the basic premise about wind burn, but don't feel one has to avoid mesh to deal with it. Instead I wear a full length cooling undergarments. These will reduce the speed of the wind on your skin but still flow enough air to be effective. I do strongly agree with the hydration part...

    Bell RS-1 review

Bought this to replace an HJC CL-16. The visor mechanism on the HJC was starting to bind up badly...so much so that the visor mechanism unscrewed and popped off. The HJC never fit me as well as it should...super tight on the forehead, loose on the cheeks. There are a lot of good reviews of...

Amazon review of Porticool2 is not promising. 40 minute life. Not very effective.

    2013 + farkles or 2014 ?

Post-farl;ed is the way to go. I bought a used 2012 with 8K miles for under $12K. It had Jesse luggage and other farkles to the tune of about $3,500. Huge savings buying that way.

    From Honda ST1300 to S10

I had a trunk on the ST which I read makes it worse. The ST didn't just start shaking on it's own but the littlest input on the open road, like the wind from a truck I was passing or grooves in the pavement, would set the steering shaking in a scary manner. I've read it is a combination of...

    From Honda ST1300 to S10

I find the S10 much more comfortable than my old ST1300. I prefer the upright riding position, the softer suspension, and it runs much cooler. Would get crazy heat from the tank of the ST and a real bad heat bleed from the right side muffler that burnt my ankle one time. The only negative of...

    OneOff is in the house..!

Came from a Wee-strom too. I really enjoyed that bike but for few things....chain, a bit small for a passenger, minimal wind protection. See the S10 as a Super V-strom.

    From Honda ST1300 to S10

800 mile trip today. A lot of freeway speeds + (ie. 80-105mph.) Climbing over 70mph you can really see the mileage plummet on the S10 vs. the ST1300. The ST1300 was definitely more aerodynamic and sat lower to boot. I think it took 4.7 gallons at 180 miles today (38mpg.) Seems to indicate...

    From Honda ST1300 to S10

I noticed that today on my second long trip with the S10. When cruising 40-60mph, the S10 gets much better gas mileage than the ST1300. However, when turning 85+mph the mileage really plummets. The ST1300 isn't only more aerodynamic, it sits lower and punches a smaller hole in the air.

    From Honda ST1300 to S10

Funny, the wide bars feel a bit awkward to me, on the S10. The legroom is tighter, but not bad for my 6 foot frame and it was really nice to be able to sit on the bike, with bent knees and still be flatfooting. I had installed a Hemi high rise on the ST which got the bars back about 2 inches...

    From Honda ST1300 to S10

Better fuel economy for the ST1300? That hasn't been my experience so far (two tanks through the S10.) On Fuelly, the most common fuel mileage for the ST is 37mpg though the average looks closer to 43mpg. The S10's most common is 45mpg while the average looks slightly lower...maybe 44mpg...

    Seat - Handlebar Relationship

I used an inexpensive set of setback risers off Ebay that worked similarly with my V-strom. They made a huge difference, but the grips barely cleared the gas tank. http://www.ebay.com/itm/YAMAHA-FZ1-FZ6-1-UP-1-25-INCH-BACK-HANDLEBAR-BAR-RISERS-RELOCATORS-ADAPTORS-/231028428188

    From Honda ST1300 to S10

Quite a difference these two bikes. The Honda just eats up miles, but it's short stiff suspension is unkind to the behind on these rough roads. I also drove a Wee-strom for a year which I loved but wanted a bit more room for two up and low maintenance shaft drive. I'm going to miss the low...
