Personally, I find the bike has plenty of power for me. Sadly, you may never be happy with the ST power depending on what your mental acceleration chart is telling you should be happening. There's no substitute for happiness, so go get something with more power.
Russell Day Long is the most comfortable seat I've found, and like you, I've tried many. Including having a local seat guy build a custom seat from scratch while I was in the shop with him. Nothing worked for all day comfort like the Russell. Better yet, you can send the Russell back for...
Lapi, my 2005 FJR was my favorite bike of all time, and still is though I don't own it anymore. Handling is superb for a touring bike. I think what you are actually feeling WITH THE super T is the effect of a 19" front wheel and a 60% front weight bias.
If you love your FJR, I highly...
Thanks to everyone for all the info. I think what I'm hearing is buy the ES and leave the suspension alone since people smarter than me already figured out how to make it work with a softer spring. ::021::
I currently have a 2012, and one of the first things I did was to replace the rear spring because the spring rate was too low for two-up touring. I am planning to trade up to a 2015 ES, but I've read some comments here that imply the ES rear spring rate is not sufficient for two-up loaded...
Very interesting thread to me, since I own a 2012 Super T and I have rented and ridden both 2014 KTM 1190 and 2014 BMW GS on multi-day trips. I was prepared to be blown away by both bikes based on all the reviews out there, but... I just wasn't. In fact, I ended up heartily disliking the GS...
Re: Maintenance of Spokes?
I took mine off, lighlty sanded off the corrosion with 600 wet-dry, taped the threads, and sprayed them with clear coat. They still corrode around the nipple a bit, but can't be helped i don't think.
Re: A Short Review: Super Tenere (2012) Vs. KTM 1190
A couple of you mentioned heat - and you are right. I forgot to mention that the heat from the rear cylinder when the temps were above 80 F was substantial. Definitely a factor to consider, especially if you ride in a hotter climate.
I've...
A few weeks ago I rented a KTM 1190 from 360 Motorcycle Adventures in San Diego for a weekend of pavement. The very next week I was back home riding my 2012 Super Tenere, so I had a pretty close time frame where I could compare the two. This is entirely a sporting road riding comparison on...
I don't know.... I have to somewhat agree with the OP. I've also ordered a several things from TW. It seems the default ship date for every order is two weeks.
Major example: I ordered Macna jacket and pants for both me and my wife. After placing the order, I got an email that the expected...
The Supa Ten is wider/heavier than my KLR, and doesn't really fit well on my cheap-ass utility trailer, especially for longer distances and/or if there are two bikes along. Anyone recommend a trailer for hauling a couple of bikes several hundred miles? Ideally would be light enough to load two...
Anakee 3s with about 800 miles on them... Really couldn't see any reason for a slide. I've gotten on the throttle a lot harder in corners on my FJR. I realize torque characteristics are different and tires are different, but never had that happen "by accident" before without some sort of...
