My current 2014 ZE (ES) is the third bike I've owned with electronic suspension, the previous two being a GS and GT1300EE both of which were good but not as good as the Tenere.

As yet we haven't toured two up with luggage so I'm not able to comment on the S10s capabilities, but from what I have experienced (solo and two up) its already my favourite ES bike ::008::
Well, I just rode about 2000 miles in CO, two up and heavily loaded up with gear. The roads varied from tight twisties (ridden moderately aggressive) to dirt roads (easy ones though) and the ES performed superbly. I don't tinker much and basically left it in the 2 up + luggage setting which worked just perfectly.

I don't understand how the ES with a lighter spring than the non ES can possibly be adjusted to provide reasonable sag. Perhaps the ES shock has adjustable gas pressure too? Or maybe a very wide range of preload?

On my Non ES 14 I could not get good sag numbers on the OEM 750lb spring so I fitted a 900lb spring which got me in the ballpark, this is a good compromise for me at 240lbs solo and 2 up loaded up to about 450lbs.
GAPS: This was what I was thinking too. Not sure how you could keep the bike from wallowing with a SOFTER spring rate than on the non ES.

Thanks to everyone for all the info. I think what I'm hearing is buy the ES and leave the suspension alone since people smarter than me already figured out how to make it work with a softer spring. ::021::

+1. Don't worry about trying to figure out proper sag. etc. Just push the button for appropriate load, experiment a bit with damping and enjoy. Botom line is that it simply works and it is not conventional suspension.
