Steer tube chatter... CHECK YOURS !

Sorry I was a bit vague. My noise was not the bearings inside the steering headstock but the top triple clamp rattling on the shaft. I checked the bearing adjustment nut below the clamp. It was adjusted correctly. I believe this is the same scenario others experienced.

Steer tube chatter... CHECK YOURS !

I'm feeling a bit guilty for not updating my resolution, but no damage as my result was the same as all above. Top nut was finger tight. Torqued and all the noises have disappeared. My mates bike (VIN 0009 original Aussie test bike owned by Yamaha Australia) was parked next to me. I reached over...

    HAMMOCK OR TENT

Tent for me. Too many down sides for Hammock. No storage. No change room. Difficult to cook in. AND IT'S A SWAG NOT A BIVVY ::025::

Why in God's name would anyone spend a penny at REI?

We need to be selective and to also be informed before making rash decisions about who we support & what comments we make. Australia, as with other developed countries has its share of troubles with respect to the Greenies. While well meaning in some areas, knee jerk & hysterical submissions...

    WTF is this clunking noise?

I have Leo Vince & foam filter & run 95 octane but it does this also on 98 as well. Just the nature of the beast I guess. This is not good for the engine, but the occasional knock I guess will not reduce the life of the bike to any measurable degree. Doesn't seem to matter if in S or T either. I...

    WTF is this clunking noise?

Engine knock. Mine does it too. This motor has no knock sensor. Only does it under heavy load at lower revs. Usually several knocks close together.

21" front wheel for the Super Tenere.

Well done Greg. Looks really well balanced. Dare I say like it should have been built from the Factory. ::008::

Steer tube chatter... CHECK YOURS !

Thanks for this post. I have had an annoying rattle from new. A bit like a loose washer on a bolt. I have been unable to find out what it is. As I mostly ride with ear plugs. I only hear it when I'm "riding to the shops" without plugs. I will check in the morning.

What you did to your Tenere today??!!

Jaxon's extended hydraulic hoses arrived today. That was quick. Thanks Jaxon. Beautiful piece of kit. Now decision time. Do I ride the bike or install the hoses. Damn. 22deg C tomorrow. Guess I ::021::

My blue bike is also fast ::025:: Seriously tho, I am still astounded with the difference between now at 11K Km and when I first rode it. Like 25% more power. Sure has freed up. I remember not being very impressed with the difference between T & S. Now they're worlds apart. I have always had the...

    Motoguzzi anyone??

I lust after this one. The only down sides are the weight and the clutch. (possible BMW type clutch horrors) and no heated grips?? Certainly on my short list. ::008::

    Handlebars and upper back pain

Here's a test I did to find out why I had sharp pain each side inside shoulder blades. I dropped my elbows. I realized I was holding my elbows up to compensate for the bar angle. I was surprised how far my elbows dropped when I relaxed my arms. Tension went from my back almost immediately. I...

    HARD START

Re: Very hard starting today Just wondering if this is really happening. Has any one seen the throttle bodies open with this condition. As they are fly by wire, maybe there is an interrupter. The reason I ask is because my friend (now ex-friend ;) was showing off his new S10 (my...

Tried it today to work. City commute with some 80KPH. Don't like it. Feels like S mode but like a light switch just off idle. I suspect it it some sort of test mode. I don't thing there's more power than in S mode, just more abrupt. ::007::

Engine heat, Can you feel the heat?

You want to know about heat. Try the Ducati 1098. Impossible to ride in the City traffic in summer. The S10 is one of the best for this feature in my opinion. Not only is the radiator fan blowing at right angles away from the bike and the rider but the side shrouds direct a small amount of air...

Spare fuses x 2 in the fuse box. (Labeled SPARE ;)) Just wondering if this link just eliminates the soft (rough) response we experience in the first 3 gears. As for the clutch lever having any effect, I generally don't use the clutch, except for a start from stationary, so the ECU must be...

What you did to your Tenere today??!!

Either way, Make a complaint where you bought the fuel, with your receipt, & insist on some one getting back to you after they have tested the fuel. This is standard operating procedure for them. (Inside knowledge ;))

Brake pad life - what's to be expected

Re: fast rear brake pad wear I have mentioned the front brake bite is not what I would expect. I reckon the culprit is the front pads. If the system reads the poor retardation as a heavy load and applies more rear brake then we have our answer. The solution (& proof ) would be to fit high...
