Would you spend 2500 USD on lights?

I’ll check it out. Some of these type videos are funny and some I laugh at……. I’m personally not someone who is very “brand loyal”……….. I guess, except for Baja Designs. I personally don’t even consider any other brand. All I need to know is how much more light do I want, how much space do I have, and where do I find them on Baja Designes web site…….. LOL

I’ve had 2-3 little niggle issues over the last 20 years. They sent me the parts immediately no question. One time I was on the other side of the country and they over nighted The O-Ring I needed. And acted happy to help.

I sound like I work for them. I don’t….. they just do a damn good job. And I really like there products.

over the last 25 years, I’ve also had the chance to install virtually all brands of lights on peoples motorcycles, trucks, vans, tractors, Etc. I’ve seen the quality, I’ve seen the out put of light, I’ve seen the issues…………………………. I’ll stick with Baja-

Regardless of the fact that you may be right, regarding the cost-benefit between an expensive lamp and a cheap one…..I must clarify that the leds used by Denali, in their “D” systems….are 10w each…..and in the comparison of the video, they compare a Denali but "S"....which have 7W each led.....but the "S" line...is much cheaper than the "D" line.....and it is not the px that they say in the video…..Denali D4 (40W)….Denali S4 (28w)…..although the casing is the same…..
In the aftermarket, normally the leds usually have between 3W “more cheaper”…and 5W “cheaper”…(each led)……if they compared a 28W S4 with a cheaper 20w one, you would hardly notice the difference

I see your point. I think Denali manufactures its product in China (or rather get it manufactured in China) for cost purposes. I think the above shared video is making indirectly the point that the manufacturers do produce more and sell their production unbranded. you will see that some led light pack 8 LEDs 10w each so you have an 80W per unit which make it 160W per pair. Denali is using the same technique: D7 = 7 leds per lamp....D4 = 4 leds per lamp...they are not developing breakthroughs in LED technology....just increase the number of LEDs in each lamp

the manufacture in China, probably so. All or many of the best brands on the planet make something in China. I did not say that Denali did something technological, only that its led chips were 10W each. If you found another “cheap” manufacturer that uses 10W led chips (each one chip led)… post the link….because I don't think Denali “manufactures” the led chips…..they only use them in their lamps, and other manufacturer surely is more cheap than Denali..
Osram and Piaa have some led lamps, but "rear-projected"...the led is located above the projector and it magnifies it and projects it forward.....less power, less glare,...more expensive:)

im a big fan of more lights . I'm basically lit up like a train at night so I can see what I need to see . I don't night ride on purpose but there are times when I have . its so hot around here this summer if I ride I leave before sun up and home by noon just to get out on the bike ... the lights are there when I need them ... as for price or brand that's up to the buyer . I like rigid lights , they have been bullet proof . so do what makes you happy . or helps you be a safer rider in my mind.

Here you can compare 2 Denali products……..they offer different features (for similar 4 leds lamps).
In the video you sent, “for the same size”…they offer different prices and “apparently the same features”..

the super T is the only bike i have ever owned that I rode on the street a lot that really needed extra lighting. As a matter of fact where I live it is down right dangerous to ride at night with just the stock lighting. So I went big bucks and bought Denali lighting years ago. I could not keep them working and sent them back multiple times for replacement. they would send the same set back. They didn't put out enough light and they were very unreliable. the last time I sent them back I had to have something. I went to tractor supply and bought everything for 40 dollars. Switch relay fuse holder and lights all for 40 dollars. Of course they are tractor lights. Hey what an improvement! perfect for my area and being able to see deer and all kinds of other animals at night. they have been rock solid reliable and do a much better job than the Denali's ever did when they were working. Tossed the Denali's in the trash and marked it up as a lesson learnt. Expensive doesn't mean better always.

All of the stuff is just cheap stuff that tractor supply had here in the states. I have some pictures of the set up I will have to try and find. I have been told it looks goofy but I really don't care it works good. For right now look behind my dog on my profile picture you can see one of the tractor lights hanging upside down on the crash bar of the bike. I have both like that. Both are pointed out just a bit to cover the road side and when I get into a tight corner and bike is leaned over I never loose the road or ditch line because these lights spread the light so wide.

For night riding stock Tenere headlights are crap. Switched to Cyclops LED headlights. The Super Tenere came out in 2010 and Yamaha engineers must have been sleeping on the job to let it hit the market with such lousy headlights.
I installed Denali D4, they are ok but if I was doing it over I would probably spend the extra money for Clearwater lights.
In 900,000+ miles I have killed 5 deer with motorcycles and a couple of them happened in broad daylight.

So, now when everybody is complaining about the OE suspension on the Tenere, I just keep reading and see how they end up liking their changes. "I" don't have any issue with the OE ES suspension.
The OE rear suspension sags well beyond the intended target with about a 50 lb. rider, so under the absolute most objective standards, the S10 suspension needs at least a rear respring.

Oh I saw the profile picture...it does not look goofy to me but I guess it is matter of personal taste...I am also very functional when it comes to farkling...if I get too esthetic then probably I will have to leave it at the Starbucks..

Yeah no night travel at all....plus they added with the package a truck kind of horn so during the day he scares pedestrians who are not crossing from the dedicated crosswalk....that kind of stuff...

I also avoid riding at night and it happened only once on offroad when we lost track and got a bit late...I felt the auxiliary lights did the job and provided sufficient light...what they didn't do (not meant to do anyway) is that if the amount of light was very high, the dust would reflect it and worsen the visibility....same during foggy weather which happened to us at a 3000m altitude...turning those mega lights rendered the visibility terrible

I spent $1240 on Clearwater Lights. Are they worth it? Yes, besides having a lifetime warranty they put out ~18,000 lumens. They are wired to be on when my high beams are on and my low beams. I have a rheostat for the low beam from 100% to 5%. I have it set for 30% on low beam. Helps me to spot deer eyeballs when on low beam and I have a car coming at me. They sure do make me more visible during the day too... and I run low beam during the day. When group riding on a trip it sure is nice if you are leading and you can glance back to place group members or know when the last one is around the slow cage or truck driver. My group told me they could always tell when I was catching up and I had clear covers. Got into fog several times near the coast. Not a big deal on low beam. I also have yellow lenses but chose to leave those home this time. I could have gotten a discounted set of the Darla's with what I got as the relay has two more leads to use on the relay.
I see far enough down the road now at night I have plenty of time to react now.
My wife questioned the cost until I took her for a ride at night. She asked why we don't have these on our cars! Also many people don't realize that day or night with weak lights you will get lost in the traffic behind you. Ever have people pull out in front of you or almost hit you as they pull out from a side road? Because they just saw the cars and the car lights behind you and couldn't see you as you got lost in the light noise. Happens in the daytime now too as modern cars all have daytime running lights lit so once again... you get lost in the mix. So day or night... doesn't matter. I told my wife... What's $1200 compared to a deer hit or T-boning a car. Nothing, nada! I also uograde suspension on every bike I own.

I'm a believer in more light. I ended up getting Baja Designs Squadron Pros and Denali D7s. The BDs are used during the day and mostly at night if there's traffic, though I do need to do some aiming with them. The D7s are only used if there's no traffic (e.g. country road). Individually they are great and in combination it's like daytime. They have their individual on/off switches and I've got them wired into the low/high beams.

I probably could have gone with Clearwaters and some added function for the same price, but I have zero regrets on the lights and the added safety. They can also take a hit and have been very solid. If I had to pick one, I'd go with the BDs. I did some testing onr evening at dusk with my wife driving toward me. We started about a mile apart. She said it looked like the eye of god was coming toward her when both were on high. And from a mile away. Though all combinations were much more effective at making me more visible to oncoming traffic than just the OEMs w/ LED lamps.

I spent about $1300 on a pair of adaptive headlights that I mounted in front of the stock lights(which have been unplugged, and plasti-dipped). They light everything up better than the stock lights ever did. They also light up the inside while cornering.

I do enough night riding to justify the expense. Seeing the deer before they jump out is more important than having a fat wallet.
I don't love how they look, and would like to find a bracket that brings them closer to the bike, but I love they way they work...SmartSelect_20230920_061540_Gallery.jpg
