My 2012 @ 16,300 miles is seriously making the CCT noise. It's loud at start up for awhile & noticeable when running blipping the throttle lightly. I noticed it getting worse the past year & now don't even want to ride it after the racket it made the other day.eemsreno said:It appears that there are some on here that are not convinced that the cam chain needs secured before the removal and replacement of the CCT.
Some on here [post #185 Eric V.] say I repeatedly say incorrect information.
The easy way here would for me to just stay quiet and let guys make costly and bad mistakes when they replace there CCT.
Remember I only want to help you out here.
I was hoping another shop would have stepped up and done this but it doesn't look like it was going to happen.
So I sent off a request to Yamaha Dealer Technical Assistance for an explanation of the correct way to just Remove and replace the CCT.
Copy and Paste here.

He also called me today to ask why I needed this info.
I personally do not know Ashley or have ever talked to him before that I know of.
He also said that Yamaha is covering this 2012 and 2013 CCT for the next 5 years [Only if it rattles] so you do not need to be in a rush to have this fix done.
And any Shop can call RTA Ashley and feel free to ask him if these are his exact words.
I really don't want to get into pulling the valve cover which is much more work then the lesser install. Is it true that Yamaha will fix this out of warranty?
I contacted my closest dealer / the service guy I know there & he said they would get back to me if they would fix it out of warranty. I don't have much faith in the dealer or Yamaha doing good. Not sure what to do right now. I'm disappointed. My 09 Vmax had a oil pump recall that was risky business letting someone do. Now this on my next new bike from them which is also risky business getting done.
