Just got back from my first "long" ride too. I remember how nervous and excited I was about my first two night trip last year from Omaha to the Black Hills on my last bike.

The trip last week was almost 10 days, 9 nights for a total of 3400 miles. Met my brother half-way between Portland, OR and Omaha and we toured Yellowstone, Tetons, Going-to-the-Sun Road, Lolo Pass, ... I also did Lemhi Pass and Sinks Canyon. Ride Report coming. This is such a great bike. After my first long off-road stretch in WY, I wrote my wife that I definitely bought the right bike. ::014::

Sounds awesome. Did you camp along the way?

My last ride... nearly 1500 miles from home to Deal's Gap and back for new screen saver (thx Killboy) and elevation therapy. The bike is almost fully farkled (sans tankbag, knobs and GPS), clutch switch mod/map enabled (street only) and lovin' it! Yamaha has built an incredible machine with the 1200Z. Not only can it inhale hwy miles at speed comfortably and sneak through the twisty bits in anger, I can ride close to 100 miles of gravel/jeep trail my sportbike riding/cager buddies can only dream of. Next weekend... the Super Tenere ADV Ride in Morganton, NC riding back roads and forest service roads near Brown Mountain (pic) and Wilson Creek.

Back from my little ride of life time, on my way north, just before Sudbury on HW 69 I saw a blue Tenere coming south, he/she saw me and we waved at each other like good friends :) , I'm wondering if you are on this forum.
Took me 8:30 to get there and rode another 5 in the City, outskirts and some gravel rodes. Got to see the first house I lived in, Church i was baptised, the Hospital I was born, City Hall etc.etc.
The next day I came back home, decided to take HW 6 from trans Canada 17 to Manitoulin Island, nice roads, but lots of warnings for deer, they have fences and solar power sensors on booth side of road on some sections with yellow light that will flash when there's movement.
From the Island my Tenere rode the ferry for the first time for 2 hours to Tobermory, them more scenic roads along Georgian Bay, 12 hours later I'm finely home. There were lots of warnings, but on my trip I only saw a fox at dusk and a rabbit crossing the road, I guess we are ok if we only ride during the day on these arias.

A few weeks ago I rode from Rhode Island to Denver to meet an old friend and his KTM 990 ADV, we then rode north to Jasper in Alberta Ca.
The total for the ride was about 8500 miles.....
The S10 didn't miss a beat which is more than can be said for the 990....
KTM = Keeps Talking Money........ :D

Glad you enjoyed your trip. Happy Bambi and Bullwinkle stayed out of your way. That's always been my luck, too.

I saw those sensors up in Newfoundland in two different locations. Up there they were for moose. Apparently Newfoundland is testing that system and I'm told there are some issues with snow causing false triggering. Interesting idea if it works.

Down a nice dirt road that turned into quicksand. She ended up taking a nap, but got her out without damage to me or machine.

My first sleeping Tenere pic:

Lesson learned: don't go 'there' alone. It was a Stone-Cold Bitch getting her out of this mess by myself - lol.

A bit of sliding going on there. Glad it just turned into a learning experience.

I did the same thing yesterday but it was dry, the trail is about 20 feet wide and i was up on the pegs day dreaming hit a rut and threw me into the rhubarb. Never dropped a bike in 20 years and this is the 4th time for the S10. The worst was in the back roads of Whitehorse, 3rd gear on the pegs hit some mud and slid her into the ditch.
