We hung with the FJR crowd for the weekend...

Lots of great roads and views...

Wandered the shores of Lake Champlain...

But the FJRs didn't want to play on uphill sections like this. The reason for the blur is that Karen and the camera were shaking as the K60s and traction control took us up what the old Battle Wings would have had trouble with...

Standing on our nose to go downhill. No FJRs here, either. ;)

Congratulations ST that's quite the accomplishment. Few questions, how was the Dempster? did you do this trip by yourself? how was the weather and what time of year was this. ::008::
The Dempster wasn't bad when it was dry, but was quite the challenge when wet. Me and 2 buddies on KLR's rode up the Dempster on July 28 - 31. The first 3 days were hot, dry and dusty. The last day was cold, wet and muddy. The bike handled the mud quite well. Only a couple of times did I feel like the tires were slipping. I'm glad I had new K60's on the bike.
My biggest issue was that my "waterproof" gear proved not to be "waterproof" and I got soaked while riding the last 240 miles in a constant rain.

Making my way BACK DOWN a fire road after the driver of a crawler full of logs decided he needed to pull into the road in front of me, blocking the entire width of the road while traveling at about 3mph! Oh well, the ride was fun while it lasted. The plan was to ride to a hot sping at the end, which would have only been about 20kms of dirt/gravel.

Nice pictures guys.

Yesterday I went to a friend cottage, today we went for a boat ride and saw Shania Twain cottage, nice and slow, just like the paparazzi :D.

Today the ladies went for a hike, remove all the luggage and went looking for some gravel roads to try the new K60s ::26::, really like them.

Looking forward to it. Road those roads 20 years ago in a Volkswagen camper with the kids. 1 month/6000 miles. Here the "call" to go back on the Adventure bike. (no kids this time)

I did almost 100 miles of gravel roads east of Marietta, Ohio today. Even did a stream fording only because there was place to turn around! Had a couple of near misses drop wise but the beast did not want any part of that action! It was fun.

Went on a nice 350 mile ride in upstate NY (Catskills) and nearby areas including a ride around one of the reservoirs where we saw a black bear crossing the road. What an awesome sight. It was 200 yards in front of us. Loved the bike's performance and handling. No problems at all and after I got home there was no pain in any part of my body. I could have just kept on riding...
Hit the 600 mile mark so its off for its first service and then the fun begins...

Nice, happy many more.

Tomorrow morning I'm going for my longest trip on a bike, I know that 800km 497 miles each way (with moose and deer signs all the way there and back) it's nothing for many of you, but believe me I'm already nervous.
This is going to be a very especial trip for me, Sault Sainte Marie, Ontario is my birth place and the last time I was there I was 1 and half years old, the City is also celebrating 100 years.
I cant believe that I was there almost half a century ago.

Hey erenet, dont worry about how far or the number of miles you will be undertaking on this fantastic "homecoming" journey of yours. Just enjoy every mile, the folks you meet along the way and the incredible machine yo are riding. Take pics for the memories.

I can't tell you not to be nervous about moose, but I can tell you I've ridden many thousands of miles in the US and Canada looking at moose signs, moose fencing, infrared moose warning systems, countless warning from locals and government officials about the dangers of moose. I have never seen a single moose in all those miles. I do wish you the same moose safe riding that I've experienced.

Oh, and don't ride at night. There's moose out there. ::025:: Have a good trip. Enjoy the ride.

Thanks guys, I never really wanted to go there, don't remember anything about it. I already called my Mother in Europe to let her know and the address is on the GPS, my first house ::26:: .

My first "long" ride. Rode from Central Ohio to Central NY taking as little highway as I could. It was about 500 miles each way. I planned on 2 days to get there just to see if I could make it. I arrived at my half way point at 2 in the afternoon. Way too much good riding weather to finish so early in the day, but I had a reservation at the hotel so I stayed and rode around locally.

Rode some excellent roads in north central Pennsylvania. I had the iPhone on a RAM mount and captured some video. The mount was very shaky on the mirror stalk so the video's not great, but I did catch the deer that ran right in front of me on camera.

Made it to NY, spent a day visiting family, then off to see the Unadilla Pro MX race the next day (about an hour away). Left the following morning with no hotel reservation. Figured I'd call ahead when I started to get sore. The weather was so perfect, the roads in Northern PA through the Alleghany forest were great, the roads in Eastern OH and Amish country were great. Before I new it I was only 2 hours from home, so why not sleep at home.

I had the new Sena SMH10 communication system hooked up to my iPhone and GPS. The wife called from back home and said she got caught on her bike in an unexpected thunderstorm. I pulled up the radar map on the phone and sure enough, a huge storm on my route. I changed the route a little and missed most of it, spending the last 10 minutes of my 11 1/2 hour ride in the rain.

Loved the bike on every type of road. The ROX risers with Tabasco's long lines gave me no back or arm fatigue. I was wishing for a better seat though. It was good for a couple hours and then I'd get monkey butt every 30-45 minutes. Maybe I did notice a little forward tilt of the seat for the first time in 3,000 miles. Put another 1200 miles on the bike with this trip and am looking forward to doing it again.

Just got back from my first "long" ride too. I remember how nervous and excited I was about my first two night trip last year from Omaha to the Black Hills on my last bike.

The trip last week was almost 10 days, 9 nights for a total of 3400 miles. Met my brother half-way between Portland, OR and Omaha and we toured Yellowstone, Tetons, Going-to-the-Sun Road, Lolo Pass, ... I also did Lemhi Pass and Sinks Canyon. Ride Report coming. This is such a great bike. After my first long off-road stretch in WY, I wrote my wife that I definitely bought the right bike. ::014::
