Ok. This is just to help break the monotony mind you... ;D

My younger brother (bald guy) bought the property across the road from me, and we both live with millions of acres of State forest at our door steps.
We get out quite often when the weather is not too hot (coming into the cooler wet months now :p) and I think the older brother (sunglasses guy) realized he was missing out on something.
He recently sold his 08 BMW K1200S to join us on the bush rides, so I went down to the big smoke with him on Monday to pick up his new BMW F800GS.

These are a fabulous bike and a perfect fit and ergo's for him (being a smaller guy) and perfectly suited for where and how we ride...

Anyway, I thought I would share these pics as having the three brothers (and good mates) out riding together again is really special to me = One of those priceless moments.
We all really enjoyed ourselves and were out for about three hours which included a lunch stop at a bush pub, and it is now something that we will make a regular (maybe fortnighly) gig out off.
We are all competent riders and enjoy a similar brisk pace, and each others company, so there should be a lot of good times ahead.

Greg.

I'm still here and reading posts. Was looking forward to US guys getting their S10's and watching the traffic explode. The delay is a downer for everyone even for those non-US members that already have S10's. Not cool to see anticipation and excitement turn into frustration. Hang in there.

I think for the most part we are all trying our best to hang in there, though it's still tough for me at times... :(
I'm still reading posts also, but I have bailed from the XT1200Z PDP. Went to the dealership yesterday to see if he would offer me an incentive to keep my business (I was paying MSRP, so he had some wiggle room on price, possibly even a good deal on an interim bike), but no -- he made no effort at all. Instead, after his warm greeting upon my arrival was "let me get that check for you." (I hadn't even asked for it yet.) I felt let down by both Yamaha USA and the dealership :(. After he handed me the check, asked what I was going to do. Said I was looking at the BMW. He said it was a great bike (he doesn't sell them). And that was it.

Anyway, 3 hours later I used that $500 refund to purchase a 2010 BMW R1200GS (white with spoke wheels, ABS, ESA, heated grips, computer, side bag mounts). Will be picking it up Saturday. Feel bad about bailing, but I have missed 3 good purchase opportunities holding out for a bike that might never arrive (why is the USA last on the delivery schedule?).

I congratulate all those who have the patience to wait it out (most appear to already have existing rides - I don't). It is going to be an awesome ride. FYI - I ordered Impact Blue on Nov 9, 2010, so everyone who ordered after that date have been bumped up one slot (unless the dealer has decided to keep the bike for himself, hence the quickness (dare I say excitement?) to give me the refund).

ciao

That's too bad, but completely understandable. I agree that the dealer could have made a bit more of an attempt to keep you aboard. Sounds strange. I would have at least pretended to be disappointed, like an undertaker trying to look sad at a $20,000 funeral. Anyway, You'll enjoy the BMW ... how could you not? Maybe you'll want to trade up in a couple years and end up with the Tenere after all. The best of luck to you. Enjoy that new bike !!! R

Good luck Strick9 with your BMW and wish you all the best! Agree with you that your dealer really dropped the ball in the way he handled (or didn't handle) your potential purchase.

Hope you stick around our great Forum!!!

Oh what a lovely morning I had. Went to see a business contact and on my way back to the office, I just got the urge to turn left and head out of the city and onwards on to all and every farm dirt road I could find. Well I enjoyed it thoroughly and needless to say, the office will see only me tomorrow again. lovely time of the year in SA, not cold not warm just perfect.

It's been raining here pretty much non-stop for the last day or so. Glad I cut my trip to TX short and got back home when I did. I got my new rear tire mounted on the FJR yesterday and will take care of the "routine maintenance" stuff next week, in preparation for my trip to Nelson BC next month.

I'll take it easy on the spiders around here..........

:)
