Just turned 30,000 miles so I changed the oil and filter, first time since fitting the Ravetech skid plate. No more difficult than pulling the plastic OEM fake plate. Changed the final drive lube while I was at it. Ready for the next 5,000 miles.

Okay, how about yesterday?
Traded in my trusty, old TDM850 for a new 2016 leftover and drove it home.
Black on black I've decided to nickname "Yvonne" after the original lady in black, Morticia (Yvonne De Carlo).

Well.... yesterday, Sunday - we had a ride out to On Yer Bike, near Aylesbury, Bucks. They are multi-franchise Ducati/Aprilia/Yamaha/Kawasaki & were running an Open Day Event to kick off the Season. Aside from a few current BSB racers & the usual razzmatazz we were surprised to find Fast Freddie Spencer, over here in the UK promoting a new book.

:D I did something similar working on the wifey's minivan years ago. Transversely mounted V6 engine made reaching the plugs at the back a by feel only exercise. Totally blind. I'd replaced 5 and was having a bitch of time trying to get the 6th one out. I FINALLY got purchase on the plug after what seemed like a long time struggling. I triumphantly whipped out the plug only to discover I removed brand new one I'd just put into cylinder #5 instead

Learned some swear words I didn't even know I knew...

Bloody hell im on a roll. Picked up new spoked rim and installed new rubber and balanced the wheel and guess what I installed the tire in the wrong direction. I even put a small yellow arrow on the rim and the tire so I don't make this mistake. Think it's time to go back to work. Hope I don't get lost on my way to Romney.

Winter projects finally completed. Had to wait a LONG time for my arrow headers to get in, and just got the BMC air filter in on Saturday. I added a PCV, Autotune single channel with a bung welded in to the collector by Jaxon, moved from Anthonys flash to the ECU Unleashed flash, added Arrow Headers, a GPS mount for my montana, Barkbusters, and a new BMC air filter.

I think I may have forgotten to remove the air injection system from the exhaust as I'm getting some popping on decel. Otherwise the autotune kit is interesting. Can any one point me to an Autotune AFR table that works well for the Gen 2 bikes? I have a general 13.8 AFR theory, but looking for some advice here. Rode the bike for two hours on Sunday to get the initial mapping done. Bike is definitely faster than when I started with the tuning.

Who laced your wheel? I've been seeing that skill set fading away some over the years.

Got my Pro Taper Raptor bars mounted, cut them down a half an inch per side. Pretty happy with this setup, may move bars back a hair as I have them just a touch forward at this time. Brake and clutch lines look good. Also thinking about pillow top grips really like them on my dirt bikes.

Last week i posted about being indecisive about heading to Scotland or France - I ended up doing both.

Scotland was bloody cold, spent a couple of days walking before thinking somewhere warmer might be nicer. I rode through about 2 hours of on/off snow on the way back down via Fort William/Glen Coe, After a day to chill at home I carried on to France.

In Scotland i heard a 'clonk' noise while riding alongside Loch Lommond - at the time I put it down to something bouncing off the skid plate.

A few days later heading back up through France towards home, sitting on a kerb eating a sandwich somewhere in France I spot the crossbar of the Altrider bars, and the top of the acd skid plate are no longer parallel ... I guess the bolt there has snapped or bent, probably what the clonk was. Everything seemed solid, so being on the way home and not wanting to remove and then possibly stap my skid-plate onto the back, I left it alone deciding I'm going to let the guys at the shop take a look as I don't like the idea of digging a possibly snapped bolt out of there, hopefully it's nothing more serious.

Later the same day, still in France I hit a patch of Diesel going around a roundabout. I went down pretty hard on the left side, I bought a new Rukka suit a while back and without the Knee armour I think I'd be on crutches with a very unhealthy knee-cap - it bore the full weight of me, and I think the bike at ~30mph in the initial impact, as it is I only have a slightly sore ankle. The only bits of the bike to touch the road were the altrider bars, the corner of the skid plate, the left pannier and the left mirror.

I'm just wondering if they'll believe it was like that before the crash!

Scuffed Bars

Pretty sure this should be straight, serviced a week ago so it's definitely something new.

Dark line is diesel, white spots are from the bars. Gendarmes stopped, looked around, and left ...

Am off for the week and did a pre-Romney clean-up / fix-up.

Swapped on the lower Pelican top box from the KTM 690r and removed the nice Holan Nomada.
Moved the trailer hitch ball to the truck to tow the camper. (Someday will pick up a second 1 7/8" ball)
Checked all the fluids, brakes, spokes, pressures, etc.

The only anomaly involved the coolant reservoir behind the engine. Pulling into the garage after commuting home the other day I smelled coolant. During my checks of the bike last night, found the rubber tank cap looked in place but was slightly loose. Pulled the drain hose (inboard of the right footpeg and swingers pivot), blew on the end of it, and found gunk plugging the drain hose. Poked it out with wire and all's good.

Now I'm gonna check it, just out of curiosity.

Good to hear your OK.
I just had a look at mine, I don't have that plate below the 2 bolts, the cross tube looks a bit drunk due to the black plate behind the tubing not being symetrical.

That lower plate is the skid plate. When the Bike was serviced, the bolts were removed to change the oil, but probably not reinstalled and torqued properly. Needs to be re-torqued maybe with some Blue loctite. I believe this is Loctite 242 "Medium Duty" on your side of the pond.

Recommend replacing the bolts with studs. ::008::

Installed new rear pads. The outer bad was done but the inner one had more meat. Is this normal? Pins seemed well lubed but re-lubed them just the same. The metal clips that receive the ears on the brake packing pad were totally dry and showing a little rust. Maybe the inside pad was hanging up a bit or the outside one wasn't retracting completely? I went ahead and applied a film of brake grease to these. The bike is at around 30,500 miles so I guess this isn't too bad for pad life?
