Yeah, but the long days without riding gets me thinking of getting something different in the spring! There are some great deals on 2016 FJRs out there......

Finally got out and about for a bit yesterday, and not just riding to get somewhere! Although I did get it seriously stuck in some wicked soft sand...no pics, but I haven't looked at the video yet either!

Today I changed the stock air filter (Wasn't too dirt) for an ujpgrade to K&N filter washable.
I used to run K&N filters too. Then saw some studies about how well they actually filtered out the fine dirt. I'm just sticking to the stock one.

so, I'm calling it a year.
some bastard turned on the deep freeze and it is minus 25 degrees Celsius with wind chill in the minus 35 zone...
with no visible relief in the forecast, at least till NEXT year, here are my year end totals:

253 riding days completed [I really wanted to reach 265, maybe next year]
33023 kilometers ridden, that's 20519.5 miles...
446.85 hours in the saddle
I know, a slacker year for me, hopefully 2017 will be better, for everyone...

grand total 171649 kilometers on my badonkadonk on a Yamaha Super Tenere over 5 years.

Seasons Greetings and Merry Christmas and hoping you get all the travel miles your heart desires.....

Congrats on another good year of riding, ::018::

Don't give up all hope. Wife and I are riding down to Baja in Feb. I can offer you a loaner bike... 09 WeeStrom, if you want to tag along. We just made reservations. P.M. if you want more details. I think we have -6 in the group now.

barkingllizard. You were the last guy I saw on a motorcycle before the Big Chill. Keep up the good work. Interesting that you keep stats. I ride a lot but not as much as you. About 20,000kms per year. Not bad for an 8 month riding season.

Pulled the battery and brought it in for the winter on the tender. Bike stored in the shed. No riding for the foreseeable future. :'(

Wife is a little peeved at me. My Bumot pannier set came today and I wanted to install it badly. Why?, I have no friggin idea, I am male that's why. "Blah...blah, blah stitches", her. "Blah, blah.....blah you just got out of hospital 2 days ago", her again. "I will just go down in the basement and un-box the stuff to see if I got everything I ordered", me mumbling. "Yeah...right, blah, blah...blah you'll hurt yourself", her. "I will be right back", as I disappear.

The Bumot system is widely reviewed here and if anything, the actual set up was better than I had hoped. It took a while to get, but I wanted the narrow boxes in black, of course the only type on back order. It bolted up precisely and easily, although the instructions were not for the current design. Everything was there and packed very well. The hardware is quality plated stuff now. I could not figure out how to mount the rear cross bar and looked at many "on line" photos that show it both in front of and behind the tabs at the rear of the rack. I went with behind, for more wheel clearance during maximum suspension compression. I splurged and bought the tool/stash box. The powder coat is nice and not a blemish anywhere. I give the welds an A on the rack and an A+ on the boxes. The hinges and claps are heavy duty and look like stainless steel.

I was looking at several set ups including Jesse. Went with Bumots mainly due to the positive reviews from this site and the past experience with some bad welds on a friends Jesse box (a box that traveled far on two different GS bikes).

Jason at ADVMotorad was courteous, accessible and friendly to deal with. He did not over-promise in any way and delivered everything as advertised. I will be looking at his wares in the farkle-book he placed in the box.

And your stitches held up OK? ::010::
SURE!, I am getting good at doing my wrenching "south-paw". I have been wounded since mid-July. I checked for leakage and it appears the expensive work on my arm should still be under factory warranty.

If the work is really hard I get the wife to help ::026:: She was a trooper and helped me install a Rumbux. Her daddy trained her well.

I installed a B+W 5500 case as trunk. $112 for the case plus about $20 for long bolts and spacers. Put it straight on the stock rack but bolted it firmly with 4 longer M8x1.25 bolts to the sub-structure. Let's see how this will work. But I am not planning on overloading it, and after reading about cracked Alt Rider racks I didn't feel like spending $220 on one.
