After 80 odd days on the road from Georgia, USA to Ecuador I put my 2014 Tenere in a box and on a truck......Headed back home......100% reliable - changed tires, changed oil and filter.... ride and repeat.

just try cleaning it with a seal doctor or something similar usually just some dirt got between the seal and shaft
+1. I use a Seal Mate. It works great... Much better than replacing seals that don't need replaced.

For the first time in a year and 10000 miles I actually washed the tenere with soap. I thought Louisiana had bugs but after riding north loop in Mississippi those critters wouldn't come off with just a spray hose..my Harley started whining so I had to wash it also jealousy is a bitch!

How much did it cost to ship it back to the US?

Right now.. It's up to $1200 Quito to Miami - sea freight. I am wimping out and having a truck bring it to my house in Georgia so probably another $600.

Ecuador is a little expensive to leave. Seems like there is about $300 in government fees for the export. If it wasn't for those fees it would be reasonable.

Didn't you pay fees to bring it into Ecuador? I thought those fees where returned to you when you left, not that they charge you more to leave.

Nowhere near as cool as shipping your bike home from some far off land (pretty damn awesome, by the way)... I did my first service on my bike tonight. I picked up a service manual from an online store, but I suspect it's not a legit copy ::)

Just installed this Ram Mount so I can run the Waze app which seems to work as good if not better than a radar detector.

No there really isn't a fee to temporarily import the bike other than a couple of bucks for paperwork (if I remember right - it was really easy to enter). There wouldn't be a fee if I drove it out. Ecuador doesn't take a bond like mexico. It really has to do with the shipping and laws related to the export by a third party it seems.

Yep, you'll need that list to tell them what to remove from your old bike. That stuff has zero value to the dealer. And some of it might actually bring the trade in value down if it's changes from oem stock configuration. They don't want to have to explain why your used bike has flashers or flash to pass and the other used, (or new), bike doesn't.

Besides, they won't give you much for that old junker. ;) :D I remember when I asked if they had a loaner I could use. ::) :)) :))

You'll take less of a hit if you strip the farkles off yourself and collect them for use on the new bike, then sell the old bike when it gets fixed. Still more outlay up front though, that's for sure. :(

Me too. I usually like to respect copyright. I buy my music and movies, but I'm going to be a hypocrite and keep this service manual.

Agree... The Ohlins rear shock, does not transfer. The BMS seats are a trade. SPS forks stay. Windshield does not transfer. Heated grips stay. Tech Spec tank pads stay. SAE connector stays. Bags Connection tank bag mount will be removed. Other stuff is being discussed.

Since I got the 600mile service dome Friday, I put the ACD skid plate on it with studs in the front mounts... man they could give you a little bit of instructions with it. The video on YouTube helped a little, but a few pictures/diagrams could go a long way. I also made some decals for the tank to keep the scratches down.
