I bit the big weenie. Put a Touratech Tractive Extreme shock on Friday. Been testing things out all weekend. Driving over things that begged for caution before are now entirely different experience. Hydraulic preload adjustment is peachy. Stronger spring restored say 3/4-in. of rear ride height. Turn in feels easier. Effort to get (the bike) up on the center stand is half. Life is good.
What is your weight, and what weight spring did they set you up with? The spring alone accounts for the ride height, turn in feel and center stand issues, so have you gotten the pre-load, re-bound and compression set for your weight/preferences and how long did that take you?

I bought one!

I picked up a left over 2012 with $1200 free Yamaha stuff and an extra year of YES.

I've spent the majority of my time on BMW GSs but after being one of the unlucky ones to buy a 2014 RT I've left the brand.

Besides the horrendous stock seat I'm lovin' the bike.

No pictures yet.

Same here! ::026::
Go hung out to dry with a 14 RT as well.
Although I like the seat/riding position on the 10. My 14 RT is taking up space in my garage waiting for the buyout to finalize.
I think the 10 is a very good alternative to either the RT or GS. Mine is working very well for me! ::022::

There's lots of us converts here.

I've got a buddy with a '14 RT that's doing the buy back. I'm trying to get him to test ride a Tenere before buying a 2015 GSA but I'm not having much luck.

Yep, I'm headed down the big $$ rabbit hole - but ya know what - I like this bike enough, after two-and-a-half years of ownership to still dump $$ in to make it better. Never been here before so this is uncharted territory for me.

Still haven't decided what to do with the front, but fully understand that it will need to be addressed to get her where I want her to be...

Open to suggestions...

Eric: I'm 250# w/ all riding gear. Told them max weight would be the max GVW like 1035# (460# of me & max cargo). Their spring designation of spring is "150-180". I don't know what units. Maybe kg? Only adjustment I've made was to remove most of the pre-load as my commuting configuration is maybe 100# cargo in all the boxes. Haven't been out on any washboard yet. You make a good point. It's all about the spring rate.

Sounds like you gave yourself some room for trips and two up, with a little sacrifice to solo compliance. Not a bad choice at all. And the Ohlins is way more capable and compliant than the oem! :D I'm jealous! ;) Have fun dialing it in for your various needs. 150 kgs would be 330 lbs, so that doesn't make sense. ::024:: Unless they are marking the spring for the rider weight, instead of the spring weight. 150-180 would be about 330-400 lbs.

I got my free accessories today after ordering on Monday. I'm use to BMW delivery times measured in weeks and sometimes months. I was shocked to hear the parts were already in.

Installed the side wind protectors and tall windscreen. I haven't had time to test them out.

Still to install are the heated grips, tank bag, and skid plate. The Yamaha skid plate is kinda cheap looking with ugly welds so I'm glad it was free.

Thought the same thing about the welds the Yama skid plate and then thought wait a minute it was free. Can't beat free.
