Took bike into shop for swingarm,linkage and driveshaft service , also got the Yamaha MC131 warranty done (front brake switch) + a new rear PR5 & pads. NZ$1013, 6.5 hrs labour $520 , tyre inc freight & disposal $300 , pads $37.04 - the rest diff oil and consumables, tax.
Swing arm bearings replaced which i had , (cheers MikeinNZ)

Wow. If it's not all FJRs, that has to be a bad vendor. Second gear is what used to go bad on "hot rods". Too much drag racing.

It's around 5 hours work apparently & you can see the extent of the issue from those pics above. Yamaha must rue the day they they decided to add that extra ratio - my old 5 speed works just fine.
Chorley Yamaha told me it takes a mechanic out of action for a whole week to do One gearbox recall. Pretty sure you don’t strip one down to that extent in just 5 hours, maybe the engine work is 5, once its out of the frame.?
