I ran a set of Trailmax Missions on my Stelvio. They did ok, I thought it was a great middle of the road tire. Not nearly as good off pavement as the E-07's, but great on the road. Very smooth. Terrible in snow. Great mileage. Plenty good on forest service roads...

Had a few battery struggles lately, and as the bike is 8 years old and probably still on the original one, I decided it was time for a new one. As I’m going to Norway and the Artic Circle next year I thought a YTZ14 would make sense, given the extra demands on being outside and potentially cold!

Now fitted and definitely starting with more urgency.

If anyone has Givi bars, just remove that little plastic bumper thingy and battery removal/fitting is easy.

At least pushing your luck didn't result in pushing the bike. I always says she's not heavy. . . . until I have to push her.

Welp, I'm considering taking a trip to see an uncle of mine who isn't doing as well as I wanted him to do, it's a couple hours away so time to do some maintenance. Also I'll be the first to admit that last year, when changing out brake fluid, I didn't do the rear reservoir/bleed AND I didn't cycle the ABS pump. So this year I did it all. Honestly the rear reservoir stunk and was lower than expected BUT, the ABS only put slightly darker amber fluid back into it when it was all said and done, so I call it a win. About to button up the clutch and check the coolant, see if it needs to be swapped (not a full flush). I think there's an easy way to do that involving the right hand side hose connector.

Pulled the plugs lubed the throttle linkage and shock linkage. Got 80000 miles on these plugs. Couldnt find any today so i just regapped and installed them. I did get moisture in two plug wells but considering the weather i ride in i expected it. Probably will try to check them every 20000 or so from now on.

You could just pop two globs of dielectric grease around the bottom and top of the boot and preempt moisture from getting in.

Yesterday, I had some time, so I replaced the spark plugs with iridium ones. Try to be careful in the procedure. clean everything before, clean the coils, put dielectric grease and the o’ring as recommended in previous post. I checked that the engine breather hose had its difficulties, and removed it first from the valve cover instead of the filter box (as they recommended before and yes ... it was easy) ... assemble everything with its corresponding torque Of tightening. I start ... the engine started faster ... and suddenly ... the check light on and the engine failed ... I went over the whole procedure in my head ... (I already doubted everything, even having removed the papers from the throttle bodies) .... a light came to my head ... yes .. I forgot to connect coil 4. I connected it from the front, it started again and everything spectacular, except for the check light engine "on" .... and the reason for this absurd story ... a while ago, I bought a wifi interface and a 4-pin connector cable. I had downloaded an obd2 application on my phone and "I had never used it" ... yesterday I used it for the first time, the ignition coil failure error appeared, "I erased the error" with the application ... the The check light went out and everything is fine .... as a smile was drawn on my face, my wife looked at me and asked: what are you thinking about ?? ..... what are you remembering ??. :)
conclusion: these interfaces are cheap, the apps are free or cheap too ... and at least, to erase errors they serve

I got a couple things done this weekend. Installed these lights that I had from another project. Used a lighted switch from Amazon in conjunction w/ a nilight harness that leaves a connection for another light bar to go between these two:

Also installed this side panel to fill the gap on the sub-frame:

Pulled the bike from storage this past weekend, now sporting the new T-Rex bars and plate, and new Anakee Wilds:

I'm about 80% "there" now. My PC-8 has been on order for a couple of weeks, so hopefully at some point soon it will actually be on its way. The GPS conglomeration is sitting on my shelf here awaiting the PC-8's arrival. I have Sargent seats coming (thanks Sckill!) and a Yamaha headlight guard sitting in a box waiting to be mounted. After that, the only thing I think I have left to do is sort out an Aux lightbar. I know what I want, and I already have a "good" handlebar switch ready to wire in, I just need to get the light and wiring harness. I will probably do that later in the year as I don't need it immediately.

I'm Bad, I'm Nationwide.
There is something satisfying about getting a tire puncture the day after your new set of tires arrived.

Caught a screw on the freeway that didn't stay in. Thankful for a TPMS system that let me know it was going down so I could make an exit and a gas station with an air pump quickly Totally paid for itself today. Also thankful for the plumber getting gas that lent me a drill because I didn't have a reamer for some reason in my patch kit.

My first rope plug in a dozen years but seems to be holding.
