How about starting a new thread on this project to keep us informed on updates? We are all very interested in reading about the results.

Thanks.

Got a nail for my rear Battle Wing today just under 400 miles total. Going to pull it and see if it needs a plug tomorrow.

On a good note, received my Akrapovic exhaust today.

Pull it? The nail, I hope, not the tire. It's a bitch reaming out little nail holes for the sticky string, but worth it compared to tube hassles.

That's impressive mileage from the OEM tires! For the difference in cost of the Conti's, you will need to get atleast 12-14K.

Let us know how you like them!

Thanks!

Yep, pull the nail. Just picked up a plug kit but the plug tool seems a bit wide. Are there different sizes just for motorcycles?

Dealer price for a battle wing is $170 but found it for $114 no tax or shipping on line and will replace if plug does not go perfectly. Dealer charges $20 to tire change if purchased there and $70 otherwise.

No, just one size. There is a product called Dyna Plug, but I suggest you stay far away from that. I had one and it failed three times out of three times and I had to ream the hole out for the larger sticky string plugs, which worked great for the life of the tire.

Your plug kit should have a reamer, installation tool, some sticky strings and some rubber cement. If not, do go pick up a reamer and some cement at the auto parts store. (some kits just have the install tool and strings). If the hole is small or dirty, the reamer is really necessary to get a good size, clean hole before attempting to plug the tire. Tip - Inflate the tire before trying to push the reamer or install tool in, it's a heck of a lot easier that way than with a flat tire.

I did nothing to it today. Thats why I like this bike, you don't have to do much at all to ride this bike for miles. :)

I have it fitted just how I like it now so all thats left is to enjoy it. ::001:: Except for maybe a pipe and a ...................... OH here I go again. ::025::

Installed my Denali D2's this afternoon. Not a bad install even my stupid no electrical butt can do it. I used the positap connectors into high and low beam function. This board was an immense help with pictures and all, many thanks to the posters that took the time to spell it out for us ignorant types. I have not rode with them yet. Too many deer and I have had 3 beers already. Tomorrow evening I spot them in. The harness is heavy duty and was a mile long. I struggled hiding all that wire behind right panel.

BTW you cannot or at least I could not remove left panel with Givi crash bar in place but you can let it hang enough to get at tank bolt. Not a deal killer it's only 3 small bolts if you remove the bar.

Looks good Roy. 8)

Let us know how you like them.

The Givi crash bars look from the front something like the Altriders?

I was able to. It takes a little wiggling, but doable.

Which direction did you remove it Rod? My patience ran thin due to the other job at hand with the lights.

I spent the morning working with a hose dealer to fabricate a two line kit for the front brakes in SS braided hose. Been in the garage fitting same and working on gen II prototype. Plan to offer it with a fender raise kit in a GB. Looking like clear, black, blue and red hose available with steel fittings and oem banjo bolts/brackets for ~$120, possibly less with the right number of buyers.

I spent the afternoon at a machine shop working on a skidplate design. First version is already in AutoCAD. Need to figure out the fold lines and get a V1 prototype laser cut...

You beat me by a day. I sent mine this morning.
Yours should get there a lot faster because mine has to go back to the U.S. first since it's being sent via military postal system.

There's gonna be a lot of people waiting to hear your results since there is some speculation as to whether there is a power restriction on stateside S10s.

How about a report on those tires.. How do you like the handling in cooler temps and on wet tarmac. Less noisy? ect..

Hmmm, may have to go out and do it again to be sure, but seems like to the front. I've had it off twice with the bars installed, so I should remember...

Put my grip puppies on today. Really a no brainer for most everyone. Less vibration and forearm pump.

Pulled a two inch nail out of my 400 mile rear tire and plugged it. Perfect plug and even thought I have a new rear battle wing on the way ($114), I might run this for a while. Checked my rear spokes and a-ok thus far.

Took off my muffler and weighed it. 13 pounds.

Replaced it with an Akrapovic after weighing it. 8 pounds. I lost over 5 lbs today!

I kept the shield and passenger pegs off for now. Never ride two up, don't need the extra few pounds and much, much prefer the looks of the new titanium Akra sans pegs too.

Just road round the block to check for leaks and if anything fell off. No time to review yet.
