Just starting to add things to the bike. Installed a plug in for the charger today as well as hooked up the plug for the Gerbings gear. Ordered the Globe Sport Panniers and then took it for a ride. 30 degrees and I was toasty warm.

I am looking forward to a winter of farkling. ::013::

Took the S10 out for a 225 mile loop around a large lake and wildlife preserve north of Dallas. Upper 40's when I left, upper 60's when I got back. The new VStream windshield is a big improvement over stock. Overall a very comfortable long distance cruiser.

Got to go on several dirt roads and a couple small trails during the day. I really enjoyed it and hope I can find more opportunities to do it again. Almost dumped it once but stained like crazy to keep it upright. All the while cussing that the crashbars were still on backorder! Also played with the differences of TC1, TC2 and TC-off. I think TC2 is perfect for me at this point.

Couple of weeks ago I did a bunch of Oklahoma stuff. Turner Falls, North of Texoma, Madill, etc., etc. was a great ride.

If you know have any tips on good dirt roads up there please let me know.

In the process of changing spark plugs and new air filter... Damn it isn't easy to get in there then the coil over spark plug caps are a bitch to get off!

Putting it back together now...

I got a couple of projects done over the last few days.
When I ride alone I don’t need to carry as much and my Trax top box just seemed a little big.

I had a pelican box that I had bolted to the rear rack before I had bought the Trax luggage.
So I fabbed up some mounts that allow me to use the same bobbins for either box.

I’ve had a GoPro for a couple of years but never used it much.
Mainly ‘cause my home computer wasn’t man enough to play back the video.

I finally upgraded the computer so I’ve been playing with the GoPro.
Yesterday I drilled and tapped the Madstad cross bar, screwed in a RAM ball, and attached a bracket my son fabbed up for me.

I took a few videos this morning. I posted one here. http://www.yamahasupertenere.com/index.php?topic=10035.0

Tube,

Great work!

How about some more detailed pics of your latch on the Pelican and that fancy Go Pro mount your boy made?

I just completed 1670 km in 18 hours on my S10. My bike just arrived back in Sydney from my 12 week tour around North America. Living in Adelaide I thought I would ride back home via Broken Hill and the outback. After picking up my bike and eventually getting it started I rode up to the Blue Mountains to spend the night. I left the Blue Mountain town of Lithgow N.S.W. at 6 am and was back in Adelaide a little after midnight. I would have been back sooner but the roads up there were not the best on my all ready worn rubber and I had to get the rear tyre changed in Broken Hill. Rob from Robs Dirt Bike Repair had a selection of tyres for me to choose from and had me back on the road in a little over an hour. Its great to have my Tenere back in the garage and am now planning some more rides around Australia.

Tube - My $0.02.... get the Go-Pro out from behind the plastic fairing and the video quality will go way up! The plastic of our windscreens is not optical quality to start with and then when you factor in the angle at which it sits in respect to the focal plane of the sensor and the vibration of the gopro/plastic shield - and you get a pronounced decrease in image quality.

Met up with Bigblu for a ride, stopped for lunch and shot the shit for a bit. ( I did get a ride on his bike with the reflash and I thought there was a nice difference in S mode, T mode seemed about the same IMO) When I got home I had a big day of farkleing . I installed all of this.

If only my Super T had a brain.........

Yup!! I pulled it and it is off to Ed and AF1 for flashing.

Forks come back today from SuperPlush with all new seals, etc. Bushings and other wear items were in great shape after 26,000 miles so we left those as they were. Removed some more hi speed compression damping off the valving.

Got new EBC HH for the front and EBC Organic for the rear. Actually have about 30% left on the brake material but the blown seal contaminated the front left pads so it made sense to just start from a new zero baseline front and rear.

Can't wait to get the ECU back and get it all installed and running. Perfect timing as I am gone the rest of the week for training and can't do anything anyway.

It's gonna be a new bike all over again!!! Looks like I'll be all ready for some serious miles again. After the horrible year of next to no riding and injury I am ready!!!!

Good to hear you AND your Tenere are all healed up and ready. I'd go nuts if I had a long rideless season. Wife, kids, dogs......would all be praying for my healing.

I shortened up the wires for my Oxford Heated Grips. The extra wiring was irritating, so I cleaned it up. You can see the somewhat smaller bunch of wires in front of the handlebars. It may not look all that small but compared to the wad of wiring before this is positively sleek.

I attended a garage night last week at Greg the Pole's and got some useful tips, one of which was to use green loctite on the spokes and zip tie them. So I tuned the spokes, loctited the threads and added zip ties. Hopefully no loose spokes, or if I do have one come apart, hopefully the zip tie keeps it from flailing around and doing damage. Here is what the rear wheel looks like now.

Only four more months of winter, maybe!

Cheers, David

In anticipation of our plummeting temps, I went for a nice ride in 69 degree temps, came home and put the dust cover over the bike knowing that temps will range between +2 and +28 for the next 5-7 days. Nothing like Texas Panhandle weather. I go to Michigan this weekend for a football game and they think they have a leg up on us 'warm weather Texans'. They don't realize we're practicing in colder weather than they are (heck, they are practicing indoors!).
