Time for a freshening of the suspension so she's without her front forks while James at Superplush goes through and inspects all the internals, replaces the seals, and brings them back to new. Most old timers here know that they've already been completely set up with new springs, etc. to get them dialed in. I asked James to tweak a little more hi speed compression out of them. Otherwise, I'm quite happy with them. Contemplated bumping the spring rate a bit as my skill set has increased quite a bit so I am now using the suspension in a different fashion but after serious discussion we are opting to leave the .95 kg/mm springs in.

It's nice to finally be getting back at it after a 3-1/2 month layoff due to my three foot surgeries!!!! What a PITA that was! Would have been nice to have done all this during my recovery but my wife didn't want to be my wrench turner since I couldn't do it myself. She just looked at me in THAT way and I knew her answer. ::025::

Hmmm, maybe this is the time to pull the ECU????? Hmmmmm?? Do I, don't I, do I, don't I.........

My guess is, like the rest of us who've done it, you're gonna love it!

I think the ECU reflash is the best Farkle money I've ever spent on a bike...
I read a lot of the post on here from the one's that have had it done and with that much smoke, there has to be a lot of fire. To tell you the truth, I was happy with the way the ST ran with the stock ECU, so I should really be pleased with the reflash. I don't care about how much top end it has over about 85, but the talk about how much improvement there was in the first three gears is what sold me on the reflash.

You just described me! :)

I had farkled the bike to nirvana status, for me. Including complete suspension and ergo bliss. But the drivetrain was 100% OEM, simply because I was not unhappy with it at all.

But I found myself in New Braunfels one day removing my ECU. I was about 50' from Ed's flashing desk.
20 minutes later I'm pulling out of AF1's parking lot and immediately felt the difference.

If the magazine testers over the last couple of years were using my bike, I believe Yamaha would have sold far more Teneres.

You are right, where there is smoke...........

Ditto - I'm beyond being concerned about how a bike pulls beyond 100 - but with the reflash I'm stoked about how the Tenere feels getting there now.

It really, truly is how the the bike should've come from the factory. And I can't agree more with your comments about the cycle-media and potential sales of the Tenere.

DirtDad and I swapped WR's this summer for a ride and his bike has remarkably more "grunt" than mine. I think he has the FMF and is running 13/47 sprockets. But I'll let him chime in.

He was lifting the front end at will on our rides and mine could not do it on a bet. He did get significantly worse gas mileage but I think that is an unavoidable tradeoff.
Yep, that is my setup, and the result are accurately reflected as well. Trikepilot - I tired something yesterday that made it even easier to lift the front. ;D

Welcome back to two wheels Firefight911.

I'm still contemplating the whole flash thing. For now I'm still enjoying the clutch switch. I'm certain I've never run up against the WOT issue, so my motivation is limited to do the flash. Besides...I have one last semester of college to pay for very soon...then I'm free.

The Tenere had not been started in four weeks. During that time I cleaned the air cleaner. It cranked for a very long time and tried to started a half dozen times then finally started. Took it for an hour ride down the river.

Added new driving mirrors with LED turning lights and blindspot mirror. Also added MRA Screen. The new driving mirror are excellent for me because they are lower than the OEM mirrors. The merit resides in the fact that the wind is now directed to my chest.

Last night I put on my grip puppies( I love these), shok sox , finished the seat mod(damn glue wouldnt stick so after 3 tries I just screwed the rubber pad to the seat tab) and finally added the trusty old sheepskin.
And this morning I braved the bitter cold here in South Florida (a brisk 75f) ,and took it out and broke the 1k mark.

The wind was whipping up some dust , which of course stopped every time I tried to take a pic.

All broken in

Grip puppies

Shok Sox

Best money I ever spent, about 5 years and at least as many bikes and it's still going strong alaskaleather.com

Pulled the forks off and greased the steering head. Actually had some grease in there. Forks are going over to a pals on Thursday for cleaning and new fluid. 5w. Then will install new brake pads. Can't believe at 46,000kms the pads still look good in the front. Rears go every 20,000 or so. That should take care of everything I wanted to do this winter. Now I only have to wait 4 months before I can ride it again, maybe 3 months, if I'm lucky. ::26::

You are wise to keep your distance. A lady I had known since my early teens (mother of a very good friend) was killed by an eight foot gator in Georgia in 2007. She was a very nice person, and it was a gruesome, unexpected way for her to die.

Wow that's awful , I've only been here a couple of years so while I am still fascinated by them , I keep my distance. Sorry for your loss.

Thank you. Yes, they are wild, unpredictable creatures, but attacks on humans are still fairly rare, from my understanding. In Mrs. Williams' case, she was out after dark trying to find her dog, and it seems she got a little too close to the pond where the gators were living. As you are no doubt aware, over a short distance, they can outrun a horse, and an 82-year-old woman didn't stand much of a chance against that kind of speed.

This thread is about what you have done to your bike not what you have seen while on your bike? Is this so hard to understand? Why then not start a thread of what you have seen?

We're an unruly bunch. Drives some nuts, I know. But a thread hijack here and there is about as exciting as it gets.

Although the recent cracked frame took my breath for a second or two. Alas, even that has passed.
