Installed my side cases last week, then dropped the bike at my camp site in Alamagordo right on the new bag that I have been hunting for, for two months.. ::008::
Some minor scratches nothing to cry over but this beast is pure heavy with a full load and a full tank.. :'(

Put my windshield back on after nearly losing it a couple of weeks ago. Tightened the screws a bit more this time. Put on the OEM wind deflectors, they work well, definitely nice in the rain and cold. Then while on a 150ish mile test rid I hit 2000 miles and added another layer of dirt.

Installed Oxford Heated Grips, Adventure model

Tech Details
  • Wired to FZ1 power distribution box, switched, 5 amp
  • Bent and drilled the Oxford mounting plate to fit on a Ram Ball Mount
  • The Adventure grips are longer than the standard units and still a bit short on the Ténéré
  • The grips are oriented with the logo facing up, "wire plug" underneath the grip and facing rearward. This clears the levers.

Usage
  • The grips heat well.
  • The 4-level heat control is just right.
  • The control is easy to use.
  • Each level has it's own color LED, so very easy to tell what level you're on

The wire "hanging down" doesn't touch the tank, but my tank bag may be close at full lock

Notes
There is plenty of wire. I tucked most of it behind the right side fairing wrapped in plastic flex conduit and maybe a zip tie or two.
The exposed wires, from the grips, are pretty much routed with the stock cabling, in front of and under the steering head.

Maybe I'll try to cover the exposed end of the throttle tube...

Not sure which kit you have there but the Oxford "Premium Adventure" kit is a perfect fit and are the same length as the OEM grips. Grip pattern is different from yours as well...

Took off at 6:00am yesterday from Los Angeles and got cancellation stamps in my National Park Passport book from Sequoia and Kings Canyon NPs. Back in the carport at 7:20pm. Total miles 518. Included two long meal stops to warm up. I under dressed for the 40 & 50degF weather, no rain. 10 mph hair pins to 85 mph on the interstate. I love my bike.

I shipped the ECU out to AF-1 Racing. I'll report back ASAP.
My guess is, like the rest of us who've done it, you're gonna love it!

I think the ECU reflash is the best Farkle money I've ever spent on a bike...

Hey AVC... you will NOT regret that addition one bit. I saw you chasing that thing over at ADVrider. The WR250R is a great companion bike to the SuperTen. DirtDad and I both bought one this summer. I have left mine mostly stock but I am sure he can tell you all about his mods to give the bike a bit more grunt.

This on has some goodies already on it:

FMF Q4 pipe
FMF fuel injection programmer
Zeta handguards with integrated flashers
LED tail light with integrated flashers
Desmogged, opened airbox.
IMS 3.1 gallon tank.
Renthal oversized bars in Reed bend
Also I have a Scott's SUB mount steering damper on it but I'm taking the damper unit and leaving the mounts. So all you would need to buy is the damper unit.
Also a bunch of spares like a fuel pump, oil filters, and spare/stock parts.

I'm thinking I might add that Scotts damper and will definitely have to do something to the suspension. I might slap that 12T front sprocket on, with my fatass it could definitely use a bit more grunt.

I heard of some issues with chain rubbing the swing arm with the 12T sprocket, so definitely ask around.

Yeah, be careful with the 12T up front. It will eat into your swingarm.

DirtDad and I swapped WR's this summer for a ride and his bike has remarkably more "grunt" than mine. I think he has the FMF and is running 13/47 sprockets. But I'll let him chime in.

He was lifting the front end at will on our rides and mine could not do it on a bet. He did get significantly worse gas mileage but I think that is an unavoidable tradeoff.

I'll let him chime on the specifics of his updates.

Regardless... you are gonna love this little bike. I cannot imagine a better match for me than the SuperTen and the WR250R.
