Took the Tenere into London today .... down the Olympic lanes all the way. There is no traffic in London it's fantastic.
Dude, you need some real A/C... :exclaim:stevepsd said:115F here yesterday......plus it's humid, so the evap coolers don't really work. 84F in the house. The ride back from work was fun. Not.
Not at 25+ cents/kWh! (some of the highest electricity rates in the nation) Would have to get a second job just to pay for the electricity. Luckily it is usually humid for only 2 weeks or so in the summer, after that the evap works pretty good. That's why I'm normally in Oregon this time of year.....japako said:Dude, you need some real A/C...
Understood.. I would like to spend the summer in the mountains also, but my wife still works.. :'(stevepsd said:Not at 25+ cents/kWh! Any updates on the metal in you final drive?japako said:Understood.. I would like to spend the summer in the mountains also, but my wife still works.. :'(
Not really. The shop took it apart, but did not remove any bearings. Checked the play and all was good. Either it was a fluke or the needle bearing is going. I did notice some metal bits in that area but they did not pull. I am using it and all seems good. Only time will tell. ::025::Tenerator12 said:Any updates on the metal in you final drive?
Is that the "together" version or the sexier two-piece?plugugly said:
That one seems like a good alternative. It uses the CBR250R powerplant which so far has proven to be very reliable, flexible and capable (typically Honda). I haven't rode the CRF yet, but test rode a CBR250R and really liked the power delivery. It will leave the Ninja 250 gasping for air when going over mountain passes, because there is more low-end torgue available, but it gives up a bit at the top end in areas with less hills. Very smooth motor as well. It sounds like just what the doctor ordered in a dual sport frame. Alternator capacity is reported to be 340 watts wich is pretty much on par with the WRR...glad to see that not only Yamaha is doing this with their smaller dual sports. The KLX stator pales in comparison. The CRF also seems to be designed as a pretty capable trail bike, ala WRR. There will always be people who wank about the weight, but most of them are camparing it to a barely street legal and comparibly unreliable KTM or their old air-cooled dual sports..it's just not the same thing. I predict this bike to sell like hotcakes, as the sticker price is less than the WRR for a similar machine, but barely sneezing distance above the price of the KLX250S, which is just EFI slapped onto an outdated engine. OOPS, guess you guys still don't get the EFI KLX stateside. The KLX is a decent 'value' pick, but it gives up power, and, IMO, is less off road worthy with the decreased suspension travel on the newer models.japako said:Not really. If it does go south, the warranty will cover it, so I'm just gonna keep on rideing.. ::26::
On another note, have you had a chance to look at the new Honda crf250l? I've been looking for a wrr but no luck on a good used one, so am thinking of the Honda.
Thanks for that info. We don't have them yet in the states, but dealers are taking orders. Should be in the showrooms by September..Tenerator12 said:That one seems like a good alternative. It's the two piece, I did a brief write-up of the rest of the install in this thread. http://www.yamahasupertenere.com/index.php?topic=4975pteppic said:Is that the "together" version or the sexier two-piece?

It's a Tadpole 23DL a "1,5 person tent". It's a bit small yescoastie said:DinX, 37 Euros to fill up, OUCH! I will try to remember not to complain about gas prices here in America. Great pictures, looks like you had a blast. Is that a two person tent and do you find it large enough? I have a similar MSR 1 man tent that is just to small. I was thinking about getting a three man tent.
42C here yesterday, and yes, there are still lots of places with massive hunks of meat that are free if you can eat it all in the time required. The Big Texan still exists, including their 72 ounce steak contest. http://www.bigtexan.com/free72.htmlTheFlyingSorcerer said:A nice balmy, sunny 23 Celcius in Vancouver. Was on my 1st long bike roadtrip from BC to Galveston back in '90. Died trying to eat the infamous 5 lb steak at "the Big Texan" in Amarillo. Do those eateries still exist?
Thanks!plugugly said:It's the two piece, I did a brief write-up of the rest of the install in this thread. http://www.yamahasupertenere.com/index.php?topic=4975
