Looking to buy my first Super Tenere. I’ve had just about every kind of motorcycle. Street glide, Goldwing, FJR, Triumph Rocket 3 just to name a few. I currently have a Crf300l and have really gotten down to a Yamaha Super Tenere. My thoughts are a 2014 or newer. Mods seem to be skid plate, crash bars, luggage, ecu remapping, exhaust. This is is just what I’ve researched so far. I was going to go for the BMW but I loved my FJR and not really trying to do any serious off-roading. Just mostly road. I know I came to the right place y’all know how there are so many options out there. Any help would be appreciated.

You will love the S10, I have owned a gen 1 and gen 2, both great bikes. Lots of good mods available.

If you liked the FJR, you should have no issues with the T-12. I recommend '17ES or newer; some of the guys here have postulated that there was a fueling improvement that year. Mods are too subjective to recommend, everybody has their preferences/priorities. But you had better hurry in the case of a skid plate. Apparently, since the Tenere has been discontinued in the EU/UK accessories are getting harder to locate.

do the accessory bar stabilizer fix. My phone and GPS wiggled around dangerously before I installed the brackets. Now offroading the dash, windshield and accessories are rock solid.

Definitely the items you have mentioned except remapping the ECU, I think it’s a waste of time and once you get used to the throttle there’s no need for mapping on it.IMO. I would also consider a different windshield which is very subjective when deflectors and merry extenders it makes all the difference in the world for wind buffeting in the cockpit.

At the risk of treading on peoples toes, I tried the brackets, (bought from the vendor on here), on my S10 and although there was a slight improvement, my Garmin satnav still shook enough for me to not be able to read it while riding. I took the brackets off and mounted it on the handlebars, perfect! Well almost, now I have it mounted on a Telferizer mount and that is perfect for me!
I took the useless stock Yamaha accessories bar off when I fitted my Givi Airflow screen and I have never looked back.

Just curious, have you ridden a Super Tenere that has had the ECU remapped?

After luggage and engine guards I would get a larger adjustable windscreen, Madstad seems to be a good kit that includes a cross bar you can mount GPS, phone mount, etc to. After that a good seat, this of course is subjective, but my Christmas gift to myself this year will be a Russel seat, and then get some hwy pegs so you can stretch out your legs. I like the T rex pegs as they are highly adjustable and work well on the Tenere.

should I wait for something with lower miles and what should I pay
Don't worry too much about miles, and honestly, I don't know if that's a good/bad price. Others here will know better. But regardless, try to get him to add some goodies, unless it's already loaded up.
