A bit on the high dollar side for a '12 and the bike appears to have some rust/corrosion issues on the the headers/exhaust, lower engine area and final drive area.
May also be red dirt/clay?
Agreed. It's also a few thousand miles from needing the first valve adjustment which will set you back another grand. For some perspective, I bought my 13 fully farkled for $7k with 20k miles just last year. There are better deals available, you just have to keep watching and waiting.

So what mileage is best so I don’t have to do a valve adjustment out the gate
Opinions will vary on that subject.
26K miles is the suggested first valve clearance check.
Something with around 15K would IMHO be your sweet spot. Lower miles more $....
What it really comes down to is:
The year(s) S10 you want?
Already farkled/set-up?
And most importantly, how much $ do you want to spend.
Since you are located in Tennessee you are in a great location for a Fly-N-Ride sale and the weather will be choice for the next couple of months.

You could be right, but I'm not sure prices have a wintertime drop on the Tenere. Make sure you ride one before you buy. Odds are against it, but you might not be thrilled by it.

It’s really not a budget issue just want to get a good deal. I’m most likely going to finance but can get cash if need be.
Will keep my eyes opened for you.
I am currently looking for a decent 4th Gen Toyota 4Runner, getting into wheelin' and beginner overlanding.

You want to talk about prices going up 4Runners are worth their weight in gold. I had a 2018 wrangler and realized I’m going to be spending a lot of money to be involved in that so motorcycles seemed the cheaper route but man is it fun.

Tell me about it, used 4Runner prices are bonkers even for 4th Gens!
I really crave a V8 4R and I kind of prefer the 4th Gen ('03-'09) bodystyle.

I'm not too sure about that either. Bikes can real expensive, real fast. But yeah, if you buy into the Jeep hype, and start listening to some people, that too can get real costly. I have buddies with Rubicons that get pissed because they don't do much better than my base model. Of course, we don't have the place to 4 wheel like Tennessee.

I've been happy with my 2006 4Runner Sport 4x4 with the V6. A nice feature of the V6 is the drive is selectable (2H, 4H, 4L) whereas the V8 is full-time AWD. The 4.0L V6 is 236HP @ 5200rpm with 266 lb-ft of torque @ 3800 rpm versus the 4.7L V8 at 260HP @ 5400rpm and 306 lb-ft of torque @ 3400rpm. My thought is the driver makes more difference than the engine because the 205 additional pounds of the V8 could level the playing field. Then again, there is the allure of the V8.
