Just wondering if people are going to be buying new specific ADV riding gear for there new bike ? If so, what might you be looking at?
Brand, model, Etc....

Jacket-
Pants-
Boots-
Helmet-
Gloves-

If you have already bought gear for your new bike, what did you get and maybe where did you get it ? Are you happy with the articles you bought ? I've changed my mind three times on the jacket, pants & boots so im looking for other peoples opinions. I'm going to get the Shoei Multitec helmet but that's all I know this second.. If you have feed back throw it out there, - good - bad - ugly... ::) Thanks! O0

Just bought a Klim Traverse Gortex suit and Dakar pants Friday from Tellico Motorcycle Outfitters, Tellico Plains, TN. They have good prices on Klim gear, cater to the ADV crowd. Neat little store just off the Cherohala Skyway. Heres the link:

I bought a Rallye Pro 2 jacket and pants. Got a good deal on them and they are the best I have ever had. Really like the armor in them. :) Other than that, I will be using the same gear that I had.

I was interested in the Klim but really didn't like that all the straps, buckles, pockets, Etc on the back.... and for me didn't like the kidney belt on the inside along with the chest strap. And for me it didn't come with any 'cold weather' vest for the inside.... The stuff on the back kinda didn't do it for 'me'.... Its really BAD ASS stuff though...

On the Tellico web site... do they have pictures of the jacket, I looked but didn't see it ? Where are there prices ? Thanks for posting.. Ya got an AWESOME set of ADV gear!

It is pliable and the color is yellow.. lol. I think it is called NP2 but not sure. I know it is not as bulky as my Knox armor.

After all the accessories I have in the garage, I will have to wear the trusty ole Darien Jacket and Pants I have from AeroSTich. It is over 5 yrs old, over 50k miles on it and good as new and best of all (MADE IN THE USA)

If someone can tell me who makes a good boot in a 14, i would be doing good!!!

thanks motoceph clem, i have bmw version of SIDI boot, over 100k on them, still good. they are a road boot. Right now SIDI doesn't make a 14 for the Canyon GoreTex, or the Adventure boot that i am aware of. If they do it is in Europa, not here in the states.

Hey Jeff,
I bought the Sidi adv rains from I 90 MS. great boot. Stinking hard to break in and you defiantly won't be sneaking up on anything. I had to adjust my shifter as there was now way I was going to get my foot in there. Overall I think after the breakin process that they will be perfect for my tree stump legs.

Okay, here's what I've purchased thus far:

First gear TPG Teton jacket and Escape pants
Icon Variant helmet
Alpinestars Scout WP boots

Will be looking to buy some heated gear too (probably gerbings)

Where did ya get your new gear ? Do you like the fit of the Teton jacket? Do you like the fit of the Scout boots?

I have the Scouts and they fit great. I wear 9 in street shoes and got an 8 in the Scouts and they are perfect. Very very comfortable.

Is this what you bought? If so, I might need to pick your brain a bit more... I really dig it...

My other thoughts where kinda these other two.......

The Rev'et pro stuff (the only out of these three to come in different colors)

I dont really like the collar strap on the Rev'et.... I tend to buy what I want and keep it FOREVER.... LOL and dont want to want 'there system to break or wear out', People have said it does..

And the Alpinestar gear:

Anyone own this stuff, or might have ADV friends that do ? Its a big investment, so I like to have "real people" tell me what there thougths are..... and not an internet sales man..... ;)

I bought my Rev'it Sand gear in Paris the same day I test-rode the Super Tenere... a year ago now! So don't know if I can say if I bought it for the new bike (at that time we didn't even know if it was coming to the US). Hopefully the Rev'it won't be worn out by the time the bike gets here...

~TABASCO~ - I like the Rev'it gear but it's not without problems, for the price. Knee pads aren't positioned well (for me anyway) so I replaced them. Also replaced the lame back protector with Sastec. It's not the warmest suit in the world for winter (but not bad if you use the waterproof liner to block wind, and the thermal liner) and not the coolest suit in summer (but also not bad if you open all the vents). So I guess it's a good all-round suit if you only have one suit.

I did recently get some Warm'nSafe heated gear. It's not cheap but they give a really good discount if trading old heated gear, so worked out pretty good after I gave them my old Widder vest.

I think that I bought the Scouts from Motorcycle Warehouse. Break-in was just a couple of rides. They are all leather so they break-in faster than the plastic boots. I tried plastic and the protection is probably better but I couldn't walk across the room. I can do a bit of hiking in the Scouts.

I don't have to buy any gear. ;D

My Aerostitch Roadcrafter one piece and my Roadcrafter jacket with Darien pant combo has served me well for the past4 years and thousands of miles. I already own a Shoei Hornet DS helmet same one the YAMAHA Super Ténéré model rider uses ;)
