I was doing my install last night, using pretty much the same exact method that Mellow posted above. I had it all ready to epoxy it in place and found out that my tube of 2 part plastic epoxy was all dried up. :'(

So, hopefully some time today I can run to the store and get some more. I should have it all wrapped up pretty quickly then and will try to get a good pic of the install. But basically all it is, is what Mellow had in his pics with a touch of epoxy to hold the bottom half of the VC to the throttle housing. Only caution is to be sure not to get any epoxy around the pivot point of the VC, and to make sure you only epoxy on one side of the throttle housing. In other words don't go over the seam in the housing, it's 2 pieces and you dont want to fuse the 2 halves together!

I posted on the previous page that I used putty on the housing to cast two fat fingers to keep the vista cruise orientation and that it would work for the S12. Been so long since doing it that I forgot to mention that I needed to use a dremel to remove the paint from where the fingers get cast and to rough up the aluminum.
Always a good technique to promote a solid bond.
Plenty of folks have mounted the Vista with a screw, too.

Exactly what I did on the FJR. ;) (my forum handle there is OCfjr) Haven't decided if I want to drill the housing or do the 'fingers' with epoxy or JB yet. Still waiting on the VistaCruise to show up in the mail.

First time I tried to post the pics, I failed..... :( Let's try again!!!

Here is the "final" step in my VC install. I used pretty much the same process as Mellow outlined earlier in this thread. (good stuff there)

I simply used a bit of 2 part plastic epoxy right above and below the "L" bracket part of the VC.

hoping you see pics below!

Quick question, are you folks using the 7/8 or 1 inch inside diameter vista-cruise? I assume the 1 inch since its mounting over the throttle tube?

thx.

I am pretty sure it is the one made for 7/8". I think they take into account the extra diameter of the throttle tube.

You order for the size bars you have. For us, that's 7/8". It's not the exact size of the VC, but the reference size of your bars. Make sense?

I actually ended up making a small aluminum bracket to bolt to the housing screw. It's sort of an L shape and I used that tab to secure the VC from rotating. Doing this caused the thumb lever to be rotated up more than I would prefer, but I wasn't liking the JB weld for this install. And it wasn't as close between the VC and the housing like on the FJR.

::019:: Warning! I am hijacking this thread ::019::

Eric, since you are the reputed Darkside poobah over there, have you given any thought to Darksiding the S-10?

Returning back to Vista-cruise thread...

Since you've outed me Bob... Actually I haven't really given it any thought, mainly because the rear wheel is simply too narrow for the available 17 car tires. You must have at least a 6" wide wheel to go down that road in 17" diameter. There are very few, narrow, 17 car tires out there. One of the reasons the FJR uses a 205 is because it is the narrowest readily available size that will fit.

Besides, I can get over 10k from a K60 on the S10. Probably do well with the PR2/3 and Cont RAs or TAs as well. I think the FJR is a little harder on rear tires than the S10.

It was all that power I suppose, but I sure did go through a lot of tires on my FJR. If I still had the old girl, there would be a Kumho on the back. At this point I won't have to worry about the ST, since I don't have the luxury of living in CA, Only got a hundred miles on this mule, but summer's coming.
