I've been watching for someone who has fitted a Vista-cruise on a Tenere. Has anyone done it yet?

I plan on using my break away on it , when the bike gets here. Currently I have it on my dl650, but I need one on what ever bike I ride the most, and that is most likely to be the tenere.

I'm waiting too! By the looks of things, it will NOT be a plug-n-play installation.

the breakaway won't be a plug and play deal either, but it's going to work with a little retro fit love

I didn't realize the BrakeAway throttle locks were so pricey! $209 for the FJR, so imagine about the same for the SuperT (when available). I'm using a Madco "Cam-Lock Sport" on my FJR and it looks like they may have a model that will work on the SuperT!!!

I can't help answer the original question regarding the Vista Cruise on the S10, sorry. I'll add to the other ongoing comments about other brands of throttle locks by saying I have a new Kaoko throttle lock waiting for the arrival of my S10. My plans are to install the electronic Rostra/Audiovox cruise control over the winter and will then have a Kaoko for sale.

I was thinking , since this bike has the ECM control the throttle anyway, All it would have taken for Yamaha to put a Electronic cruise on would be a switch on the handlebar and a program in the ECM. Maybe next year.

I'll be putting a vista cruise on mine when it shows up. Had to modify one to get it on the ST1300. Tried the breakaway and hated it.. it locks into the internal cams/gear... so it may be a hair faster or slower than you want whereas the vista is just exactly what you want. I never liked the bar end stuff. I'll post something when I do mine but I have to believe someone else will get their bike before me and do the same thing.

I have used the same break away on 5 different bikes (over 150 k) and have had no problems modifying it for all kinds of different bikes. It has worked flawlessly for all of them, regardless of the application. I have done nothing but a small adjustment for each. hmmmm

Vista Cruise is still probably my first choice simply because they are relatively inexpensive. I've had them on almost all my bikes (except for my current FJR). If the Vista gets to be too messy to install, I will look into the Madco again - as I have on my FJR.

I hope it is the same as the FJR. I put one on my 05, it was very easy and worked great.

The problem I see is that the cables exit from a different location on the SuperT than the FJR.

Yes, I saw that as well, but it simply means a different orientation of the VistaCruise. Not necessarily a deal breaker for me, considering the cost and simplicity involved. I've had one on my FJR for ~150k and it's still doing the job.

I'm thinking that once you've ground off the tab, you could reverse it too. And there is always the NEP, though that's always looked kinda cheesy to me, even if it does the same job equally well.

The Vista Cruise install will likely be very similar to the FJR one shown here.

At least from the looks of things in pictures... :'(
I've had one on both of my FJRs and will do something for the new bike too.

Instead of the screw, I used JB Weld and modeling clay to cast a set of fingers on the throttle housing. The fingers keep the Vista Cruise tab from rotating.

I'm getting close to installing the vista cruise.

The first thing I did was remove the black whatchamacallit between the grip and controls.

The grip is too tall to clear the vista cruise so I used a dremel to clear off some of the shoulder.

I then inserted the vista cruise clear plastic whatchamacallit and then the vista cruise - the spacer thingy goes between the VC and the grip.

You may have to pull on the grip some to get more space so the throttle will return without rubbing the VC too much I still need to do that some more, I might end up removing my grip and reinstalling it so there's more space there.

I'm not sure yet how I'm going to anchor it, I used a dab of epoxy on my ST1300 vista cruise and it's been great for 3 years so that's probably the route I'll take.

Not a complete install but, not too far off.

The same comment was made by MultiStrada 1200 owners. I assume there are interesting legal/safety issues with testing cruise control in various countries which just drives up cost and delays time to market.

Seems like the other Vista Cruise, the slightly more expensive one, would fit without modification. It's ugly, with that bar that crosses the switch pod to clamp to the bar on the other side. But I think it would work.

There are always ways.

One thing I am liking a lot about this bike, is that even without my crampbuster I don't feel like it's hard to roll on. The throttle return springs are not as stiff as the NT's. Or maybe the angle is just better?

Exploring options, but have always liked the VistaCruise for it's cost and simplicity. JB Weld, here I come. For <$20, I can play with some stuff and be happy. At $199, I expect plug and play.

I posted on the previous page that I used putty on the housing to cast two fat fingers to keep the vista cruise orientation and that it would work for the S12. Been so long since doing it that I forgot to mention that I needed to use a dremel to remove the paint from where the fingers get cast and to rough up the aluminum.

When I first cast the fingers on the painted surface, one broke off after a few weeks. Not sure if the finger was too narrow or it was casting the JB Weld on the painted surface, but it's been probably 3 years since then and no problems after stripping the paint and making a new casting.

Plenty of folks have mounted the Vista with a screw, too.

You'll probably need to reduce the diameter of the throttle grip's rubber flange with a very high speed sander, like a dremel. I mount my throttle grips in the drill press to do this to remove a nice even amount of material all around.
