Well speaking for myself, I think Eric was on target with his comment - I believe you did kind of jump the gun on it and got some folks worked up with that headline. I know it caused me some concern. But there's no need to respond with a personal attack on him. That's actually what takes the fun out of these threads.

So are you saying I should turn off the tar heater, and stop plucking the chickens?

Is that why your K-60 "tars" aren't lasting as long? Too much pre-heating? :D I can't pluck the chicken strips on them either. :))

Are you using a kerosene heater for the tars?

As far as I know, nobody died or was seriously injured as a result of this apparently incorrect information. So before anybody gets their knickers in a complete twist, ask yourselves this question: "Is this of cosmic significance?" Remember, no harm, no foul. I was very pleased to read that Yamaha is keeping the S10 alive! ::015::
Cheers,
Bruce

The real irony would be if Dallara had ... *The* e-mail from *The Head Guy* at Yamaha, with a Yamaha electronic *letterhead*... And I quote:

"September 10, 2013

Dear Yamaha Motorcycle Dealer,

The 2014 model year Super Ténéré will be introduced in March 2014.

Dealer order allocations for the 2014 Super Ténéré will be based on each dealer's retail sales of 2012 and 2013 Super Ténéré models.

We hope this information helps you better plan your current and future retail business plans.

Sincerely,

Dennis McNeal
Motorcycle Operations
Motorsports Group Company"
.
... before he started this thread.

I still think that Dallara has to sell his ST and buy a Vespa. I hear that the Vespa forum is in need of some spice.
I invested a considerable amount in a response. No problem. Anyone who is upset takes life waaaay too seriously.
I am going to take his cue and start a provocative thread some day.

Anyone dare to speculate on the updates? Hope they keep the engine and just change the mapping.

I would like to see them go to a boxer twin with 125hp, semi-active ES suspension, on the fly adjustable traction control and handlebar-mounted dash controls. ::26::

It's pretty obvious to everyone right now that they need an XT1200Z-R1. 160HP at least. Titanium frame, 180Kg wet, 200 switches on the bars, 12 modes, people like modes, and LED headlights. These are the most important things that reviewers are after.. Oh and since it is a lowly YAMAHA it has to be made for $20K again, because $26K would be a rip off.

I'm sure there would be something wrong with it anyway.

I'll keep mine. It does what I need very well. Took me 3 bikes to finally get there but I am there.

If they were to convince me to shift it would have to be basically the same thing in a 900cc version with a 25L tank. That's about all I need.

I thought it was a good novel got my gray matter pumped up, besides I don't foresee any riding for the next week as it's raining and I have been all over these parts of my neighborhood, saving for another trip to Moab in October.
Can't afford another bike anyway I have a great one already.

this thread may have done some good: I explained to my wife that I read Yamaha is halting production of this bike so i need to find a left over 12, or 2013. I don't have one yet, but am thinking of selling my first born to get one by the end of sept if no the end of the year.

I wonder if Yamaha will still use the YES extended Warranty next year?
On the Tenere they made money with it, I haven't seen any real huge issues with this bike yet.

I won't buy it unless it needs a final driver replaced every 45k or so miles. :D

What a thread! First it was: :'(

Then, it was some: ::002:: and ::005:: and a few of these: ::009::

I found myself: ::010::

Then finally, when realizing the S10 was still going to be around: ::012:: ::013:: ::015::

But after seeing that photo of Cheech and Chong I want to: ::018:: and 8)

2014 Tenere Possible News

I just read today on another forum, that Yamaha has informed their dealers in that 2014 Teneres would be available for order as of March. Don't know if there are any planned changes, or even if this is accurate information. Im just passing it along. If its true, you heard it here 1st. ::025::

You missed the other multipage thread on that debated the S10's demise and eventual resurrection! :D
