LOL.... As a 50 something, I have always known folk can also be plural with a "s". Folk itself is plural as a group, IE: Country Folk, Old Folk, Young folk, etc...
It can also be plural with an "s" when referring to individuals as in the context of the post, IE: bunch of individuals want their opinion on something...
Im no professor, but Merriam Dictionary feels the same and thats good enough for me...
BUT...... To avoid any confusion in the future I will use "guys" vs "folks"...
Shit, then I run into gender issues these days..... I give up...
