Has anyone else turned off their traction control and felt an improvement in the bikes handling on the road ?

When you say 'handling' what are you referring to? Pick up, throttle response, engine braking (or lack thereof)?

I prefer to ride with mine off as the "Feel" Is better.

I think that on asphalt you would have to push pretty hard to find out where traction control comes into play. Thats when it starts to affect " handling ". The only time I find a need to turn it off is when I ride dirt roads it can become a bit bothersome. The rear tire breaks free and traction control activates causing a cut in power. I prefer the rear tire to spin freely.

Turn mine off all the time unless on wet roads. It seems to choke the power on the bike noticeably.

Hmmm...I honestly haven't turned mine off, I'll have to see. I would think that it would only kick in when it senses wheel spin and not limit power at other times.

That is what I thought, as well as to keep the nose on the ground. However there is a difference, you will see ;)

My thought is wheel spin happens more readily than you think. Maybe I romp on it more than I should. Either way, the bike runs much better with it off.

TC has saved my ass a few times at Florida Tool Booths (a lot of oil and water on the pavement)

TC has ruined many robust take offs as the wheelie is cut short real quick ...

I like my skin and love the fun ... wish there was a fast way to switch it off like the switch from T to S mode

Turn mine off frequently when in the twisties, and when I don't want the nanny to shut down my wheelies.

If you push it hard in the twisties even TCS2 will cause the light to blink a lot on a non-flashed, generation 1 bike. Turning off TCS allows you to obtain all the performance the bike has to give.

TCS2 shuts down wheelies very quickly. Not as fast as TCS1, but it can be pretty annoying.

Only time mine is on is when I forget to turn it off when starting the bike.

I have played with mine on both my 2012 and 2014 S10's. My 14 wheelies even with the TSC2 on. I leave it on that most of the time unless riding off road then it goes off for that free wheeling feel in the rear wheel. In the rain, TSC1 in on because it has saved me a couple of times when I needed to get out of someone's way during heavy acceleration on wet roads.

Always in TC2. You definitely notice it in the dirt, especially on washboards. Around town, I rarely hoon enough to engage it, though it's easier with knobbies. ;) My S10 has only ever pulled the front end up once, and I reved and dumped the clutch being in a hurry to catch a guy while road racing on a private road.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wTgUWx8Tdwg - it was one of these runs. At the very end you catch a glimpse of the GS1200 that was chasing me up the hill. ;) Runs all done on K60's and they impressed me.

I've never noticed a difference, because the only time it has ever really gotten a workout for me was in Death Valley. I've had a few times hitting slick stripes that i felt it react (and probably saved me) and once i took off on a road that had a collection of tiny pebbles that i hadn't seen when I stopped, the back wheel spun and then stopped and putted along until i was clear of it then took off like a shot again - that was in 2. I don't do crazy stuff like wheelie intentionally, but I am proud to say that my "chicken strips" are practically nonexistent on both my stock set and my Mitas e07 Dakar set, and I've never had tcs impact my twisties riding. I spent a lot of time riding 1, 2, and off, don't really notice any difference because I don't engage it regardless, but I tend to leave it in 2. Just my worthless opinion.

The bike will even do a little wheelie in TCS1 with a hump in the road to get you started. The issue is both TCS1 and 2 will bring the bike back to earth pretty quickly. 1 faster than 2, but they both put you on the ground. I'd much rather ride out a low wheelie on the Tenere than bring it up high. Just way too much weight to be slamming back to earth. I know some people say they can always set it back down gently, I can too....sometimes. It's those other ones that make me cringe as the weight hits back down.

Turned my '14 off in the gravel one time and laid about a 20 feet roster tail with the back tire skidding off the the side....scared the shit out of me. LOL
