My 300+ mile ride today (man, what a great bike) highlighted the fact that I need to get a throttle lock on this thing. I've been using a Vista lock for the last few years, but since this bike is a clean slate I wanted to see if there's a better option out there. So what do you have?

Cramp buster for me. I have them on all my bikes. Easy, cheap and good enough. That Go Cruise looks good too.

I too have been using the vista cruise on my past few bikes. They are cheap and work on just about anything. Plus, I am so used to them that my thumb keeps going to where I usually have it to set it, but nothing there yet! :D On my Buell I was actually able to mount it with 3M double sided tape. It held up for the entire 10,000 miles that I had the bike! On my VStrom I could not get the tape to work so I just used 5 minute plastic epoxy to "glue" the bottom half of the vista to the throttle housing. Worked like I champ. In fact, I just bought one for the Tenere and hope to install it this week some time. I will post some pics. I have seen people actually take a tap and thread some holes in that throttle housing and screw the vista cruise on, but I am leary of doing that, just seems to risky to have something that could catch the throttle. As far as I know the epoxy isnt permanent.... and could be pryed of if you really needed too

Real two part epoxy is permanent, or as permanent as what it's glued to. You'll need a Dremel to grind it off. Lots of other products might pop when flexed. Even epoxy, if what it's glued to allows more flex than the glue can take, might pop, but it will usually take parts with it.

I have used Vista-Cruise9s) for years on my bikes. I have one on order for the ST.

I never thought about gluing them to the throttle housing...I always drill & tap the throttle housing a use a short 4mm countersunk screw.

With all the electronics on this bike it would seem to me that an electronic speed control would be an easy option? The mechanical throttle locks always scare me if I needed to off-throttle in a panic. I did have a Throttlemeister on my VFR and never really used it because it was such a PIA to use. The Kaoko looks interesting, and that $20 Go Cruise looks like a good option, or at least a cheap enough part to try anyway.

I use the Go Cruise on my Vmax and it works great. I broke my first one by trying to spread it over the grip. Another Vmaxer did the same with his and called the company and they replaced it, but asked for a picture of the broken part. Using a throttle set/ lock type of cruise is fine when traveling alone but doesn't work well to keep pace with another bike using a similar cruise control.

I have a Kaoko on now and they are ok, but not as easy to use as a Vista Cruise. This winter I will install an electronic cruise control. I did that on 2 of my ST1300's and they were wonderful. An Australian S10 rider on ADV posted instructions and pics on how to install an electronic unit.

Go cruise $20. works great

Installed mine yesterday (3 seconds) and it does work well. The one thing I'm trying to figure out is how to turn it off. I don't seem to have the coordination to just lift it with my right finger without nailing the throttle. Of course I could always just close the throttle, or reach over with my left hand. But I'm wondering how the experienced guys do it.

Got mine today, install literally took seconds. Seems to work really well, I am using it right on the grip, have not put on their rubber sleeve don't think I'll need it on these grips.

To disengage really all you have to do is roll off the throttle. This is probably the best $20 I've spent on the ST so far!

Naw. It is even simpler than that! It just grips your throttle and hold against brake lever. It is basically a strong spring clamp.
