Rod,

Twisted throttle has the correct listing (as ar as i know)!!! I can't be for certain since we have no bike to install it on!!! Doh!!!
I just looked at the TT site and didn't see where they specified which mount to use (5 or 7)...........

EDIT: I looked again under the XT1200Z section and it lists the plate as the Yamaha 5.

Greg,
Any update on how the City Bag is working out for you? I'm in "search" mode for the perfect (if there is such a thing) tank bag for the SuperT and so far the City Bag looks to have the most to offer. Also, which base does it use? Looks like there is a "Yamaha 5" and a "Yamaha 7" version. Any other mod kits required to mount it to the SuperT?

Thanks!!!

Rod
Yep, still enjoy the City bag Rod.

I have a SWM tail bag for venturing off road for the day, but the City is always installed for use around the streets.
These are definitely one of the best fitting and easiest to use bags on the market for this bike.
Very quick and convenient for removal/install at the fuel stations, and quite generous in size when expanded as required.

Its definitely not one of those products that will leave you saying I wish I had of got this or that instead.

Greg.

P.S - Not sure which tank ring it was - The goods were just presented as suits by Mike at Motorradgarage.

Thanks Greg!!! That is exactly the feedback I was hoping to get. I looked briefly at the "GS" version, but I don't think I need that large of a bag. How "generous" is the map pocket on top? Some bags require very creative folding of the map to get them to fit. I looked again on the TT website and it looks like we use the "Yamaha 5" version ring for mounting.

It's looking like I need to get the ole credit card oiled up again for my next (and hopefully final) batch of farkles!!! ;)

No map pocket on top of the City, only a clear view cell phone pocket.

The map holder is an accessory. It attaches with 2 clips at the front and velcro at the back.

Ahh...

Never see'd it - I use a gps.
Must look into it for my reverse bag on the rear.. Would be bloody handy to get a larger overview of the area that I am in..

Good find, thanks guys.

Greg.

P.S - What it looks like:

"A clear, water-resistant map holder that fits to all Bags-Connection tank bags."

Need to check out if it will fit my reverse (rear) bag.

Good to know!!! I saw a $20 accessory "map pocket" on the TT site and now I understand why!!

Do you have one and if so - how do you like it?

Thanks!

I do like the map pocket as I only use paper. The only problem I have encountered is that a very strong side wind will undo the velcro. I have a safety pin handy for those times.

Good feedback!!!

Well, the City Bag, a Map Pocket and two mounting plate (one for the FJR and one for the XT) are in my "Wish List" on Twisted Throttle. :)

IL, the land of straight, flat, boring roads
I saw the Yamaha bag for the Super Ten at the Indy show and like it. So far the only Yamaha accessories that I will get are that bag and the winglets.

Good - more positive feedback!! Have you used the same bag on your FJR?

I have :) However, you need to set the bag up as I described in my original post about this bag. Also, I have a perfectly placed large tank pad that would prevent the underside of the bag from contacting the tank should you fill it to capacity. You do need to 'manipulate/articulate' the bag when fitting to the tank ring but it's straight forward and no problem. IF you'd like I can take a pic to demonstrate.

Hmmmm, must have missed the previous post.......... I did a search and only found your reference to it being a Christmas present. Is the pad required only for the FJR - or also the SuperT?

Yes, I would like to see any pictures you have - on both bikes if possible.

Thanks much!!

Original thread.

http://www.yamahasupertenere.com/index.php?topic=382.10

See how the design of the bag drops down at the rear to take the shape of the tank ... well it's just marginally tighter on the FJR. It doesn't ttouch but it probably would do it you put a weighty load in it. Even then it would matter the bags base material is designed to touch the tank sympathetically. I'm just a fussy SOB and hate any thought of potential rub points.

I'll try to get some pics later of it on the FJR.

Don't know why I couldn't find it - heck, I even POSTED in it!!! :D

Do you have the dimension to locate the clamp on the underside of the bag. It looks near perfect to me.

Thanks!!!

Rod

Great pics and looking forward to pics on the FJR as well.

Never tried this kind of mounting systemand always wondered if the whole set up "vibrated" or "rocked" based on thecentral mount and the weight levered out at the ends.

Would paint protection film on the tank be useful to avoid anxiety? I may or may not use a tank bag and wondered if anyone used the film to protect the tank? I'm fussy as well.

Here's the city tank bag on the FJR. You can see that it's a snug fit due to tank shape. It's fine though. :)

Also a pic of the map case on the XT1200Z
