I think central USA for the first event would get the most people involved the quickest... Being it in the "CENTER" would be the closest for everyone...

I agree with that. It would tempt more people to come, and it would give me a good excuse to head south and ride through some good country. I would only ask that you don't schedule it too early or late in the year, or I can't get out of here. White stuff on the ground. Late may, June, July or early August if possible. Would take something pretty serious to get me to miss it.

And you wouldn't have to send money. I could just pick it up when I got there. R

I'm still thinking Arkansas or surrounding states. Not quite "center", but close and lots of riding opportunities.

:)

Another couple of posts talked about Yamaha involvement and fwiw we've had them and other sponsors at the FJR meets for a couple of years.
That surprises me as we have never had any support from Mother Honda on any of our events. Dealers yes - but Honda itself no.

Russellville Arkansas would be a good gathering point ,a lot of good roads close by, reasonable motel rates and plenty of good food.
I have attended a couple of group rides based out of there.

Arkansas sounds good to me also. Leaving tomorrow for Arkansas on a two week vacation finding some good roads on the KLR and FJR with the wife. From what I have received from other members it would be a good place to re visit. I'm game. Time and place?

I would not count out my dealer calling me one week into the trip telling me my Tenere is at the shop. :'(

I think I will leave my phone off. :)

You can scope out the area while you are there!! I've attended a couple gatherings in the Eureka Springs area and it is nice - along with parts of southern Missouri. A bit more traffic than I enjoy if you wander too close to Branson!!! :) (if you have been there, you will know what I'm talking about)

We can only hope that our dealers start calling us soon to let us know that our bikes are in!!!! :D ;D :))

Well, I'd do my level best to make Arkansas. It's a long way for the old dog, but doable I suppose. Lots of time yet to figure it out. I'm still trying to organize my Alaska trip for week after next. Too bad the new bikes won't be available for that one, but soon enough. If it will stop raining for a few minutes, things will start looking up. R

I think once a place and date are picked, we will find that we have good attendance as people will be able to plan it out ahead of time. Nothing says Arkansas is cast in concrete, but it sounds like the front runner so far. I'm game for most anywhere, but then I'm also retired and it's a bit easier to plan these events that way. :)

Since this will likely be a 2012 event, the only two possible conflicts I have is my planned trip to Alaska (probably July or August) and WeSTOC in September. Course I also have CoSTOC sometime and TexSTOC in October and Kool Deadwood Nights in August and Oktoberfest in October and ,,,,,,,,,,,, (wow, glad I'm retired!!!) :D

i can understand for a couple of reasons why the WeSToc's were held mid week. It gave the people a few days of a weekend both coming and going from the the event to make it there. Otherwise, if it was on a weekend, people would have to use more vacation days to get there. Unfortuantely, most weekend hotel rates can be better than weekday, for when most of business travel is done!!! Except for tourist season, in touristy areas.

Yes, WeSTOC has switched to the weekday schedule, but all the other STOC events are still set up for weekends.

Hmm, my experience has been just the opposite on room rates. I always find that the best rates are Sunday night through Thursday night and higher rates Friday and Saturday nights. You must be staying at a LOT nicer places than I stay!!!!!! ;)

I tend to seek out dumpsters in really nice neighborhoods for sleeping. Almost waterproof, usually warm due to decomposing trash, and free. And sometimes you can find a snack, which is a bonus. I have to travel cheap. R

I am working on a California rider meet up in September but I really want to meet the folks on this forum in a larger setting so I am ready to ride anywhere we do it, afterall we are in the adventure riding catagory. Doing California to Deadhorse and back next year at the of June to July 2nd. Other than that I am open. We could also consider Montana.

Personally Colorado would be great. Amazing roads of all types, major passes, bigggggg mountains scenery that is amazing, easy to get to.

Montana or Colorado would be awesome. Rod could use his car instead of the Tenere. R
