The BIG COLORADO 2013 summer gathering !

This could be interesting for me. Just completed a Northwest off road tour on the WR250R. Thinking of a more road oriented / less difficult ride for 2013.

Put me on the list as a tentative. Mix of camping and hotel.

Having been a part of the 1st North American Gathering I know a little of what you are going thru

Pick a date, pick a place and we'll show up ( at least some of us) I can't commit yet as I'm a slave to a seasonal business but do hope to see you there

If there is somewhere I could rent a bike for a few days (ideally an S10 but not necessarily) I would be interested in coming over there with Mrs Monty as part of a broader trip to the USA next year.

I want to express how grateful I am to Jaxon for proposing this gathering in the first place. To me, a Central California guy, any place with more elevation changes than I have within a few miles of me would be good, and anyplace in Colorado is great. IMO, any venue has its good points and its limitations. Gunnison would have been OK, but it looks like it may be a little ride to the excellent mountain stuff. Ouray looks like it's in the heart of the good mountainy stuff, but perhaps has other limitations. Bottom line is, Jaxon stepped up to the plate and has taken on the job of pointman for this event, and I think we should support his research and decisions, and not try to second guess him, undermine him, or factionalize the forum members. He is sincere in his attempts to provide us all with good times next June. ::022::

That's the bottom line, right there.

I've never been to Colorado, so anywhere is a great choice as far as I'm concerned. And the more support the more I want to be part of it.

Stepping up to the plate is not an easy thing to do and Jaxon has my support whatever. He won't be able to please everyone, the best he can hope to do is please the majority.

My 2 cents (Canadian because they're worth more lol)

Hey I was looking around on the web and looking for campgrounds around Ouray and there's a National Forest Campground that has a view of Ouray like this

You can't go wrong with the San Juans - even better than Rocky Mountain National Park in my opinion. Ouray (or Silverton) can't be beat. Pretty sure I am in.

I'll be riding through S Colorado next week. Can't wait to see the area. Me and two friends are riding from Las Vegas, Nv to Denver. Traveling through Cortez, Durango, Salida, then continue on 285 to Denver. Any input from locals would be helpfully. Weather, road conditions.
