The 2-day, 600 mile Texas Adventure Challenge was last Friday and Saturday and there was a professional photographer on the ride named Carlos Drexler out of Dallas who was taking a lot of pictures. He just posted up a link to 148 pics on his facebook page in the Two-Wheel-Texans forum…HERE…if you’d like to take a look. I believe there were six Super Teneres on the Challenge, although not many show up in the photos. The ones I recognize are member simmons1 in photo #30 and Motowalt in phtoto #69 (hope I got those right). Below is a photo of my blue ST and member gunner’s raven ST out in the desert west of Del Rio during the second leg of the Challenge. We had a really awesome time.

Hey Twitch, it was nice to meet you and Gunner (I met him at the award ceremony, and would not have believed he rode because he had cleaned his bike afterwards...thanks for posting evidence that he actually did the ride) ::025::....

The TAC was definitely a challenge and lots of fun...I ordered a set of Heidenau K60's as soon as I got home...
The Anakee 2's were an improvement over the stock Metzlers, but Id like a bit more confidence for off road...I've had the Heidenau's on my 800GS and they are much better than the Michelins for the dirt...
That photographer was good...check out the lightning strike he captured in pic #13...it did hail on some people that morning...but it missed our little group...
And don't forget Lori and her dog, Sidecar Sadie on the KLR hack...very cool...#59

lol! Steve did pretty good out there...even on the stock tires. The Heidenaus were great!

Sorry I missed you at the banquet. I was there, but left early to be able to head out early Sunday...but not before I got one of these. ;D

Twitch,

I passed you guys on Friday I think it was.. Sorry I missed ya, would have like to shake another forums members hand.. Pretty good ride for sure !!! Your on the K60's, right ? How did you like your tires? They hold up good for ya... ? I just turned over 6K miles on my K60's.. Front still looks new and more than half tread left on rear... I thought I was going to melt them both to the ground riding the way I was on 'the three sisters' and the Vanderpool area... Good times!!!!! ::008::

The TAC was some of the best riding I’ve ever experienced. The guy (Richard) who put that together did a great job. I wish we had roads and trails like that around here. It was really a challenge on some of those roads out in the desert but no one in our group had a fall...I hit a big hidden mud hole and almost lost it though. Yes, I was on K60s…got a big fence nail in the rear somewhere out there on the trail on Saturday, but didn’t find it until I got back to the hotel in Junction…and this is why we carry repair kits and compressors! Anyway, the K60s were great. Not just in the dirt; they really grabbed well on those Three Sisters twisty roads we were on at some point. I think I’m going to leave them on for North Carolina next month and then ride them up to Whitehorse in June. I put 3,285 miles on them on this trip alone and about 4,300 miles in total. Great tires!

That long sucker was the James River crossing and the only place on the TAC where you could do a bypass…which is exactly what we did. ;D It wasn't just long, it was all slippery and mossy on the bottom. There were still about 4 or 5 other river crossings on the track, but nothing compared to the James. Maybe if it was at the end of the TAC instead of the beginning it might have been worth trying.

We took the bypass around the James River also...glad we did...but crossing all that deep red sand sure was tense!

We both run Ride On tire sealant on our Teneres for just such occaisions...best stuff going...I didn't even have to balance my Anakees using that stuff...

Check out their video...
