Glad your ok, I'm starting to think its crash your white tenere Saturday!
When I got back on bikes five years ago after a too-long hiatus the only condition my wife had is that I wear full gear when I ride. Which was cool with me, because I got to buy some cool stuff! She never says anything about the money I spend on gear - and she knows when she starts hearing Anthony videos from Revzilla playing on my iPad that there will likely be a box by the front door in the next few days....tiogajoe said:Glad to hear your O.K. I too tend to skip proper protection when it comes to riding pants! I will be heading to the Aerostich gear show in New jersey this week. A pair of AD1's or Utility pants are in order! I usually ride with my Darien Jacket and heavy Carhart duck pants. Me knees are too old to slam into the tarmac. These posts serve as a good reminder we're not Super Man! Be careful out there!
When my wife hears, "Hi, this is Anthony from Revzilla TV where you can watch, decide, and ride", she runs into the computer room to check out Anthony. She has a thing for him I guess...creggur said:When I got back on bikes five years ago after a too-long hiatus the only condition my wife had is that I wear full gear when I ride. I went down today as well. A guy pulled out in front of me from the median. A truck was in the turning lane and was blocking the guy's view. Instead of waiting, he pulled out. Luckily I had just started going from a stop light only doing about 40 I was able to slow down enough from that for it to not be any worse.
The good news is the hit bounced me over to where the bike slid mostly on dirt/grass.
The bad news is I wasn't wearing ALL of my gear. I headed into work for a little bit and didn't put my riding pants on. My knee kissed the pavement and I'm going to have a nice scar to remind me why I should wear ATGATT!
Only 190 miles on the bike when it happened. Can you believe that?!?!
Oh I'm betting on it. The fall thrashed one sleeve of my jacket, scuffed my boots and dinged my helmet. If I hadn't been wearing that stuff, no telling how much worse off I would be. I know at a minimum my left forearm would be hamburger meat right now because as it stands I have pretty good abrasion marks from the armor.Checkswrecks said:Really sorry to hear about your fall, especially on a new bike! Keep cream on that knee.
Remember that the other guy's insurance will pay for any of your protective gear that touched pavement and was damaged. Helmet, boots, gloves, jacket, etc!
I would replace that helmet. and if its not got one already put a shoie or aria sticker on it for the claim ::013:: . I'm remember some guy somewhere that if a helmet impacts something in a accident it did its job and the structural integrity is weakened and should be replaced. That's good info. I was in fact wearing a Shoei RF 1100. I'll have to look at when I get home. The insurance company will be replacing it but if there aren't cracks visible maybe I can keep it as a spare.VPS1 said:Shoei helmets are painted inside with a paint that shows "stress cracks" when the helmet is damaged..... Customer service at Shoei had me look after my son had a nasty MX crash. Remove the inside padding and check it out. I attached a photo.
Bummer. Sorry to hear it, but glad it wasn't for a tag I posted. I'd feel guilty about that.Checkswrecks said:... the bike fell over.
"Why?" You may ask?
Because I was trying to get a photo tag shot.
