Regarding the Rox Risers...

They have three models of the "fixed" (no-pivoting) variety. The rather standard one...

Then they have their "Elite" model...

http://roxspeedfx.com/product/rox-pro-offset-elite-block-riser.htm

Which, as you note, have the mounting holes that go to the triple clamps slightly elongated so they can fit many different bikes. They also have circular inserts that allow them to be used with standard 7/8ths inch handlebars should you want to try some. With the inserts removed they mount "Fat Bar" types, like what comes on the Super Tenere standard. These "Elite" risers are the ones I have.

Then they have the black "Elite" risers you mention...

http://roxspeedfx.com/product/rox-pro-offset-elite-block-riser-black.htm

These are identical to the silver "Elite" models other than being anodized black. You may want them, but IMHO black ones would look rather odd on the Super Tenere's silver triple clamp and with its silver handlebars.

Just FYI...

It is the black Elites that caught my eye, but I've been on the fence for just the reason you posted - the obvious mismatch between colors. Maybe the silvers, then wrap them in electrician tape to see what it'd be like...? :D

hey sportsguy, thanks for starting this thread. I just learned a lot without having to ask the same question you did. I usually search for answers but ALWAYS ask the same question again. I'm a noob to THIS forum as I just bought a low millage 2012 s10 (26 miles) from a guy who lost a ton of money on it because it was too big for him. I am liking it so far. At 6 foot and 250, I am not a small guy. Standing on the pegs, it seems like I need the bars to be a little higher. I will be checking out the Rox Risers.

The best mod I have made to my bike was my Fasstco Flexx bars. The rise is perfect, no line extensions needed. And the comfort you gain from the sweep on the bars and the flex in the elastomers makes it a whole new bike. They are of coarse more than risers would cost. Maybe even risers and new standard bars would cost. But they pay for themselves in my opinion.

OK, so let the farkling begin!

Bar risers.

Who is running what, and what's the max height we can run on an S10 without needing to lengthen lines?

How do you like what you have...and more importantly, would you buy them again, or would you try something different next time?
I started out with Touratech 20mm risers. They were an improvement but I decided to try the Rox Pro-offset risers which can be mounted to give 1" rise and 1" pull back. They were an improvement over the TT for me 5'7" with a 30" inseam and shortish arms. If you have a longer torso with longer arms, something like the TT risers may be all you need.

Did these bring the hand grips up AND back?

You mentioned rise, and sweep, but I want to clarify if the hand grips were moved closer to you relative to stock.

I like this idea...spendy, but a unique solution to a few small problems.

The Flex bars, for the Tenere specifically, were designed by a couple of off road riders. (Read it somewhere)

Turns out they are the same over all width as oem, and plenty of control surface.
So your grips would end up at exactly the same spread. But a significantly different angle.

I love them. Solved so many of my ergo issues. Combined with the risers, for me the bike is now an all-day ride. Standing and\or sitting.

By different angle, do you mean wrists turned more into your body, or more out - like a straight across endure bar would be?

no, they brought the bar position up and forward. the back sweep on the factory bars is way overkill! you can't buy an aftermarket set even close to that far back. it's much nicer on my wrists now. and standing to ride makes it much nicer to.

Is there a US source? That price in Euros doesn't seem much cheaper to me...

ac
If you are registered at OTR and they see that you are outside the EU, the 19% VAT gets dropped, making the price 210 euros/$275. And they come prepped for the OEM hand guards. For me in Japan, I'm looking at about $80 less, not counting the cost of the inserts in the case of the Flexx bars.

Twinrider,

Nope.
I purchased the metal insert kit that I think was referenced on the Flexbar site.
Came with the tap for tapping the threads.

All quality stuff. And therefore pricey. But when you have them in front of you, it is easy to see the cost. It's like machine shop eye candy.

I also benefitted from an early release $50 off.

I see Fasst now has 15 degree and 19 degree ST bars.

Any thoughts on which might be a better choice? Or do we know if the 19 degree units are for shorter riders? I'm leaning towards the 15 degree units - mostly because I love the feel of my KTM stock bars on the...ah...KTM and those are comfy for hours on end for me. ;)

Not seeing much on the site explaining anything about WHY the difference between the two sweep options. Maybe just for personal choice? Or, was 15 degrees a bit too much for many riders?
