Guzzi's are cool bikes. I had one once. But I sold mine for some of the same reasons as you. Primarily because there wasn't a good dealer network. We had a really good Guzzi dealer not too far me, but that really nice shop recently closed down.

That is a lament frequently repeated on the Guzzi forums - "I had a really good dealer, but they went out of business," or "I had a really good dealer, but they lost their Guzzi franchise." Moto Guzzi just does not seem able to develop a dealer network in North America. This is not surprising I guess, as they are a very small player in the international motorcycle market.

They are extremely cool bikes, but they are easier to admire than to own. Having said that, I would still like to have an older Goose as a second bike, just not as my primary ride.

When I started to pursue the process to sell/trade in my Tiger 1050 for another bike, the new Stelvio was high on my list. I saw one at a Triumph dealer and I really liked it. But I didn't want to go hundreds of miles to get it serviced or address warranty work with a dealer I trusted.

So based on prior experience with poor dealer networks and desire to be able to travel hundreds of miles without too many worries took it out off of my list. I also had a friend who gave the S10 a stellar recommendation. I'm very happy with my decision to go with the S10. If I can squeeze in another 500 miles over the next few days I will put 20k miles on my bike in one year of ownership. I totally psyched!

You can stop right there ::008::

UK Ones are thin on the ground, some now are tagged onto bigger multi-franchise dealers who I feel do not best serve niche machines like these, my local dealer spent ages telling me about how they can have the odd niggle, and spares can take weeks to arrive, and how in summer Guzzi close for 51 weeks and no parts or technical help is available.....

Got the feeling he wanted me to buy a Jap bike, I rode the Stelvio back to back with the S10, and had turned up on my GS, the Stelvio was the bike I enjoyed the most, character and charm with decent performance and I am a sucker for rare (and odd) choices but could not quite take the gamble, when I win the Lotto and start buying loads of bikes a couple of Guzzi's will be amongst them.

I love the sound and feel of Guzzi engines. Was very interested in the Stelvio but Moto Guzzi's importer in Japan is a solitary shop and they didn't see fit to bring in the Stelvio. What a disappointment...
