Hi guy. So sorry to hear that we'll miss you. The needles is a great run...enjoy. I am currently in Idaho falls and would have loved to bunk with you. I have to resupply tomorrow but expect to be in jarbidge around suppertime. I was thinking of camping just south of town in jarbidge campground. Not sure you plan tobacco. I'll stay online, we should pick a departure time. I'll keep my eyes open for you when I roll into town.
Guy....next year I'm in :)

Guy. A superior loop would be great. If you're into sailing as a potential side gig, we'll get you out on the lake for a bit of a cruise. Offer is the same...we have room, shower, garage, etc
I grew up sailing and then went Navy. When do you want me to show up!!!!

You guys have fun! I am home. I left Red Lodge at 0900 went up and over the Bighorn mountains on 14A. Wonderful... stop at Bear Lodge for a burger and tots! I always wanted to go to the Medicine Wheel but never knew exactly where it was. It's on 14A at 9600'. The road descended on Wonderful curves on the east side and the ascension on the west is good except a shorter section has damage but no big deal with the S10. As you know zi wanted to go to Devil's Tower... but once I hit I90 by Ranchester I put the cruise at a gas sucking 84 mph and went home. Pulled into town in time to get to church at 1015 in my riding clothes then home. Some deciding factors were...
1. 93° F and the next couple of days were the same.
2. It was just going to keep cooling down and... there was no wind in Wyoming and SD!!!
3. That mental switch flipped and I wanted to go home so I went during the best conditions. Saw an asteroid burn through our atmosphere and a couple of coyotes in different Locations. My bright lights were handy! Went by Sheridan at around 4:30.
This situation ( burning down the hwy) is the only time that I wish that the bike had more power. I'll get better at loading lighter next trip. Should help! Screenshot_20230827-102122_Maps.jpg
So this is the track up to midnight Screenshot_20230827-102206_Maps.jpg
This is from midnight on. A little over 1000 miles... and I didn’t even get serious about covering ground until I got on 90. Went slow through the Bighorn mountains stopping at overlooks and it is a 1.2 mile hike to the Medicine Wheel with inclines. Easy gravel road though. 2.4 round trip.
Now to get my yard back into shape and start the tear down to clean this bike up and check every bolt. Do forks, oil, drive oil, air filter and stuff. Oh, valve check as I am at 27,000 miles. (A local S10 rider on the forum said he could show me or guide me through that) Just around 12,500 miles on the trip in 44 days.

I thought maybe you would show up at the bbq today but nope.
I almost went straight across on 90 and then I would have been at your house knocking on your door... ut the timing would have been early... but then you get up early all the time. Didn't think of that when I made the decision to go down I29 as it saved me a toll and 7 minutes. I was trying to surprise my wife at church... except she says I have done this so many times it's not a surprise anymore. You know that I love a good BBQ!
Let me know when you want to come down.

I can be very goal oriented at times!
I went from Petaluma, CA to Snohomish, WA in one day (854 miles) and two back to back 750 mile days from Eastern AZ to home all that on this...

20200218_142644.jpg
Back in my early 20s I went from Belvidere, IL to Novato CA 2200 miles in 34 hrs on a stock seat on this
FB_IMG_1473822929923~2.jpg
My standard 84 wing with an 83 Hondaline fairing. I still have that bike( my wife read this... she said... you still have the wife too. Put that in there. So as an obedient husband it now is!)
I have also gone from Hemet, CA to Byron, IL in 32 hrs on my 91 Wing, a decked out SE. Then a couple of Utah to IL and one Adirondack mountains to Byron straight... so I am used to it. One reason a custom seat is worth it to me... although I was on a Corbin seat last night which I don't consider custom. I know you have to condition your rear to that. When I left for Alaska a 380 mile day was enough as I didn’t have a lot of saddle time in yet. Spring was cold, wet and nasty! About a week into it we were doing 500 mile days. So by the end a 1000 mile day is ok.

If I start out early I can easily do a 1000 mile day on this one. Custom seat and fully upgraded suspension. It now corners better than most people will believe!

Please put up some pictures you guys. I will practice more with my drone so next year we can get water crossings and have it following us... in Wyoming.

OK, I have my route planned out between Thunder Bay and Jarbidge, with one day to spare in case I have trouble or decide to spend some extra time in Wyoming..

Likely I'll spend the night before in Twin Falls and drive to Jarbidge 1st thing in the morning.

Any idea when you guys would like to depart on the 29th? 10am?
On your return trip I recommend going out of Cody WY up the Chief Joseph Hwy and then up and over Bear Tooth Pass or as you'll be North maybe do it the opposite way. I did the CJH both ways and loved it. Alternate 14A was nice from Lovell, WY to Ranchester.

Has been extremely “interesting” so far. First day from salt lake supposed to take about 4-5 hour coming in from the north. Our dumb GPS (maybe we are dumb) directed us across the whole state in a zig-zag to come in from the south. And then guided us on some BS goat trail for 25 miles. That how for we got be for all hell broke loose climbing mountains on these big machines. At this point we are on the bikes for 12 hours.
We had to back track all that BS dirt trail and on the way back I got to close to a rock wall and it tore the bottom paneer bag off. The whole bag is ruined. But after some straps and 200’ of duck tape we keep going. The first day had it all with 14-15 hours on the bike. Yikes.
The second and third day already have better stories. OMG - I can’t type all that I want on my phone. To many stories already and way to much WTF………. LOL

Strange we had pretty thick smoke and no rain for a good portion of the day but it was comming in from the south and Im only about 40 miles west of your present position. Today looks much better though. Thunderstorms can come up in the mountains though so the fact you had some is not totally wierd. Looks like fairly cool weather the rest of the week down low. Should be nice up high.
