Great looking install. I'm planning the same for my 2018 ES. I have SW Motech crash bars, so I'll probably mount my lights (very similar to yours) onto the crash bars. Please can you show me a close up picture of the mounting brackets. Where did you get the brackets??
Thanks p180pilot@yahoo.ca

I'm using the PIAA universal light mounts. You can see them in the different configuration on post 13 in this thread:
https://www.yamahasupertenere.com/index.php?threads/rigid-hyperspot-and-two-d2-driving-lights-wired-to-a-lighted-switch-and-high-beams.25588/

The light bar mounted under the upper crash bar uses a custom bracket I fabricated from stuff I found at Home Depot.

I'll try and post some closer shots of the mounts asap.

A word on the cheap aux lights: While we are getting away with using cheap LEDs in the headlights....I had some Auxbeam aux lights that I was originally going to install and after playing with some Rigid lights I can say there is no comparison... That said, cheap lights is better than NO lights for sure. The stock headlight on the super Tenere is anemic and quite scary.

Agree, generally you get what you pay for. But, the LEDs I bought were not cheap, but as strong (lumens) or stronger than the Pia's, just not as expensive. Motorcycle parts, a lot of which comes in from the U.S. to Canada is all priced in U.S. dollars., then add the shipping costs in U.S. dollars. Well, my friend, it costs about a buck forty Canadian to buy one U.S. buck! As you mentioned, one can get creative and go to Home Depot or Lowes or somewhere and buy a good piece of stock and cut bend and drill. I enjoy doing this sort of thing not to mention saving some dough.

Oh crap, I should have done more research. After sending off for the larger covers and ordering a pair of HID lamps, I have just found out that it is illegal in the UK (and probably Europe) to fit HIDs' into a halogen system. The reason is the lenses and reflectors are set for a halogen lamp and HID's cause the beam to be in the wrong place. A system like BMW GS factory fitted HID is OK, but that's it.
In the UK a 3 year old vehicle has to be tested. A friend of mine is a tester and he said as soon as the bike turned up with HID's he would have to fail it, no quible.

Interesting....while looking at their bulbs....I found these....seem to be about 1000 lumens brighter than the ones I listed above. Looks like they added an additional LED (4 vs 3) Also seem fanless...

https://www.amazon.com/Headlight-Extremely-Replacement-Headlights-Conversion/dp/B07H3H1TVL?ref_=bl_dp_s_web_9174103011&th=1
So I wanted to circle back around on this one... I got the bulbs the other day and while installing and adjusting them, I noticed the removable mounting collar (held by a small Phillips screw) was the same design as the originals I installed a while back but the notches that held the bulb in the perfect position were of questionable manufacturing quality. In other words, they were paper thin plastic and wouldn't lock the bulb in place. So I swapped the collar with the originals and installed.

Other differences....while these have a total of 8 LEDs per bulb ( as opposed to 6 of the originals) the circuit board was pop riveted in place vs the small Phillips screws that hold it in place on the originals. The heat sink is slightly smaller as well.

While they do appear a bit brighter, I would recommend sticking with the original model I linked to earlier in this thread.

I'll leave these in place and run them for a while to test their durability.

I recently burned out a Cyclops headlight and bnschroder turned me on to some Chinese bulbs that he found. Doing some research, I see that EricV and Xclimation found these too.
Even better is that the $31 is for a pair (one box), while a single Cyclops would cost more than double that amount. So you know what to buy, here's the box with an original bulb for scale:

Link to the product on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B077KSPHB7/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Comparison with the Cyclops in the middle:

I set up a piece of plywood in the garage and held the camera above the center of the windshield.
The first photo shows the NovSight on the left, with the OEM on the right, on low beams.
btw - I swapped the bulbs in the sockets and the results didn't change. Please just ignore the total mess on the work bench.

High beams with OEM on right:

THESE DO REQUIRE THE LARGER/EXTENDED CAPS THAT ARE AVAILABLE IN THE FOLLOWING LINK OR FROM THE CYCLOPS KIT.

Riding on the highway and through the woods, the NovSights definitely are better than the Cyclops. To me, these are the shizzits and my thanks go to bnschroder.

Just installed a set. Big difference from the stock lights. Price now is a little more but for night time driving(I work nights), well worth it!!! Thanks for the review/info!!!

So bought the set in the original post. It’s the wrong set, I saw in the pictures they had little driver boxes and sure enough when they showed up they had little driver boxes. And of course nothing I do will stuff them in the headlight.

Looks like the right ones are now

https://www.amazon.com/A385-N7-10000LM-Headlights-Bulbs-6500K/dp/B07MCGDRK5?th=1

The A385 part is the box part number in the original post. The ones in the link are A397

Unless I am incorrect, I mean, they plug in and work, they just don’t fit, those driver boxes are just too big

Sorry that the set you got isn't working out. Part of the original hunt was to find ones w/o the driver boxes. The Niteyes ones first used were fanless as well. The Novasights I and others are using have fans, but no driver boxes. The Cyclops lights do have driver boxes, so many people are finding ways to fit them into the light housings. Not knowing how big your driver boxes are, you're the best judge of that possibility.

Try Ebay. Look for Novasight brand H7 LED units and check the pictures to find a version in the color range and wattage you want w/o driver boxes. You rally should be able to find them in the <$40 range.

I do see in this thread where people are using the A385 as well as an A310, so various versions are in use, not just the A385. On the road now or I would go look at my box and see if mine are the A385. (I think they are). Still going strong.

On a related note, one of the Iron Butt Rally riders on his Super Ten lost both LED lights during the early part of the rally. I asked, and they were the expesive Cyclops lights, not the cheap Chinese ones that we are having such good luck with.

Yeah no worries I will just send them back and get the 385. I really tried to get them to fit, was pretty excited since I 3d printed some bigger caps for the headlights.

There is no way the driver go in. Even pushing harder than I should. They are too long. And too fat, kinda like me.

One of my Cyclops leds is fading a bit. I'd say about 30% less light output. Ordered these today (the price has gone up, but still way cheaper than Cyclops). Looking forward to improving the light output.

It's ebay, search around a bit and you may find it cheaper. Amazon as well.

Has it ended, because I'm not seeing an Ebay link.
Shows out of stock now. Here is another LINK for $30.98

You just need to search Ebay for Novsight A385-N7-H7

I’ve had these installed since April and about 8k miles with no issue. I think night eyes were bought out by nova sight. You gotta get the extended caps from deftoner/Victor. HUGE difference in lighting over stock!
Very nice!1 these are even more powerful than the ones I have.
