Back home.

Thanks to everyone who came to make this the biggest and best Camp N Ride event yet.

I won't have a chance to wrap thing up from my perspective this evening, but will get something out in the next day or two.

I'll just quickly say I appreciate all of you for showing why it is such a pleasure being part of the adventure bike community. It was great meeting or catching up with so many of you this weekend.

Hope you all had a good ride home. More later...

Mojotoot, Killer photo.

That's Heather on the roof, I suspect?
She did a great job keeping 170 ole coots in line. :)

New weather station established on Horn Camp Rd. I think it will work as well as our current system. At least I understand this one.

The "tenere"...pronounced like "canary" ::025::, performed perfectly on all surfaces. I am sooo happy that I chose this motorcycle. ::013:: ::022::

Enjoyed meeting all of you other ST owners that I met this weekend. I only knew one other person that has one and most people have no idea what it is, let alone how great of a ride it is.

::001::

BTW, what do you get when you cross Willy Nelson and Ted Nugent?

Made it home from a great event. Thank you Romney Cycles, Dirt Dad, Checkswrecks, and many others for putting on a top notch event. Had such a good time and met a lot of great people. So good to finally meet many of you who I have been following on this site for years now. That area is rich with great roads, trails, and scenery second to none. Will get a few pics posted soon. Can't wait to get to the next one.

Hope everyone else is making it back home safely. ;D

LOL

I don't know for sure, but I'm betting whatever it is, it's sleeping in an Ohio Rest Area\Information Center tonight.
And the generator is quieter than the diesel rigs idling. (So not likely to have a roadside showdown). :)

Echoing thanks to all those who organized to make this possible. It was nice seeing so many tenAIRee's in one place - I've only ever seen a handful in the wild. Free camping, food, coffee, Romney Cycle's amazing dealership and support, WV roads... Boffo.

I didn't take many pics, but here's some of mine:

I made it home at 9. Nice day without any rain! Should have taken Steve's advice and ridden 12 miles around town, but I was tired. 988 miles today, 2,189 since I left home Wednesday at 3 PM

Just talked to Jeff (JBJKE) and he is about 3 hours from home and going string after stopping for a meal. Obviously he is not riding with Steve. The man who can take pictures following Snake while going down a steep wash without back brakes, will absolutely NOT stop for a meal. I did get him to sit down for about 4 minutes and join me for a piece of pizza, but probably because I was already sitting there eating mine!

Thanks to all for the great weekend!

That was a great day Alan. Riding with you Larry and George was some of the best riding I've done. Having the knowledge of the local roads and the history of WV brings a whole new appreciation of the area. Also, almost getting hit by lightening on Friday got my heart rate up almost more than hammering Smoke Hole Rd ::015:: Most important, we all got home safe to ride another day. Meeting guys from the ADV community is always special. The mutual appreciation of bikes, rides, and sharing personal stories is without equal. Thanks to everyone who worked so hard to make this an event I look forward to every year. ::012::

Got home yesterday around 6:30 PM. Many thanks to all who organized and worked so hard on this great event, Checkswrecks, Dirt Dad, and all the kind, good-natured folks from Romney Cycles. Very nice meeting many of you. Here are a few pics I took at the rally.

First off I need to say Romney’s Cycle puts on one fantastic event.
They just must be the nicest people in West Virginia.

Dirt Dad and Checkwrecks really make this thing happen.
I need to thank BigBob for putting up with me all the way out and back. He can knock out them 200 miler non stops just fine.
Next I want to thank that motley crew of dirt riders that let this old geezer tag along, bring up the rear, and never complained about my poking around at all.
I really feel like I was following the cream of the crop of full sized 450 lb (thank you Nathan) adventure bike riders that were at the rally.
There was so much talent on wheels in front of me it was like watching a ballet in the woods.
I’m not sure but we may have had the most casualties of any small group of riders there, but that’s not because of lack of riding ability, it’s because of abundance of riding ability. They wouldn’t have been in this group in the first place if they were not extremely experienced riders. Riders from the beginning were told we were looking for the best stuff we could find in the Romney area. What ended up was a group of 5-6 that know what these Super Teneres are capable of doing and want to take full advantage of it.
Next I want to mention I am not a profession photographer and I hope their expectations aren’t to high with me holding the camera.
Any of you that has ever ridden trails like this know that any picture snapped is never taken in the best parts where you are only in survival mode.
So enough with my blabbing and us get to some pictures.

This is just some hitch-hikers we seen along the way.

I know some never power wash there bikes, But Nathan [KTM690] has no problems with it.

Know this "show bike" has to be hand washed only.

I hope everyone stopped to see this.

Lunch time BigBob, where were you?

One of my new riding buddies, True Grip.

Nathan took this, Thanks ,, I really was there.

I better try to up-lode this on the Pony Express line.

OK, so I can't pronounce shite. LOL
::025::

Steve - Thanks for the great photos!

We had our wrap-up meeting, wrote notes, and have ideas for next year. Holy crap - 2016 already???
???
Got home sunburned and happy after hanging with the stragglers till nearly 4, and then my son wanted to go to Jimmy Cone. What a great ending to a great weekend. Like the guys in the Suzuki truck said, this is a really great crowd.

On the way out of town, I stopped to watch a bunch of kids playing at the school we collected for and most of that cramped playground looked like it has been there since the 1960s. We don't have final numbers yet but we are pretty sure that out of this fun weekend, we also raised more than $3,000 for the school. All of us from Surburbia miss how poor even the regular schools are in Hampshire County. Heather was explaining about local conditions and regularly seeing the teachers buy their own classroom supplies at the Dollar Stores. The school we are contributing to is not even that well supported, and of course the kids are the ones who are at the bottom of the chain. Here is what is going on if you are interested:

Kevin was adamant that every cent go to the kids, nothing else. We were all with his sentiment.

Again - Thanks to everybody!!!

MojoToot... you must be Andy! I'm Brick, Chuck and I rode with you on Friday and I'm the one who landed in the mud! Thanks for taking us along! I'm bruised but not broken. That's a good thing. After I got home I did find a little damage... one of my left bag mounts broke off and is gone. Not a big deal! I definitely out rode my skill... but at 68 I'm still trying! ::003::

Todd that's pretty impressive buy a bike and two days later you are out throwing it down in the mud just 100 yards ahead of me!

I got home yesterday at about 4:00PM... not bad 440 miles or so. Chuck is still out riding for a few more days. Lucky guy!

Thanks again!
