Good morning from Romney and here is an update to wake to.

It is 50 degrees and headed to the mid/high 60s and the rain has heard off to DC now, so we ate going to have a GREAT day! There is a good chance (60%) of afternoon showers to keep the off-pavement guys happy.

Snakebitten' freshly painted Tenere looks stunning!

There is already a small crowd and we expect a lot of arrivals this morning. The Iowa trio came in at about 10:20 after a very long day and it was great to finally meet you guys. If coming from the east, don't forget that there is a frequent speed trap in Capon Bridge. The Romney PD also sets up in town.

You need to check in and sign the waiver. The Ruritans are already going to start serving breakfast at 8am, so remember to have some cash. The Romney Ruritans as an organization (Google it) are here to support us, so please support them.

The shirts came out great, are here for pickup, and InHouse Bob made us a few extras to sell onsite.

I am looking forward to meeting more of you, even if I totally suck at remembering names.

Chomping at the bit, and can't wait to see you guys tomorrow morning!!

Snake - saw pics of your bike on Facebook. Jaxon is a true artist. Your bike looks amazing and I bet it runs even better than it looks.

Best,

Chris

Good morning - Day 2,

We had off and on rain yesterday, which means we have freshly washed roads today and the creeks are up a bit.

The weather for the next three days is supposed to be cool and spectacular. Zero percent chance of rain and highs of 73 today, 77 tomorrow, ,then 82 on Monday. It was amazing to hear how many people plan to ride all day Sunday and head home on Monday.

Even with the rain, we were over 120 people signed in yesterday. Make sure to sign in with Heather inside the door that says Service.

BUY RAFFLE TICKETS FROM HEATHER.

We have a boatload of great stuff, including a GoPro camera, shirts, and other stuff collected by Romney Cycles and Dirty Dad. Rather than auction the two shirts from our Brazilian sister event, the shirts will also be raffle prizes.

Two Live And Learn updates:
First is that we had some riders get split up and find that they strongly wished they had each others cell phone numbers. Before you folks head out, please realize that this is to your benefit!

On a related note, Heather (Romney), Larry (Romney), and I (Bob) have access to the phone numbers everybody signed in with. We are not the phone company and are only going to use the list for emergencies. But if needed, call Romney Cycles and we can help you. There were several bikes needing recovery and we can arrange that too.

The second update is that Romney got a big new hospital and the ICE sheets do not show it. The new hospital is almost behind the Chevrolet dealer, a couple miles east of town and the current info is:

Hampshire Memorial Hospital
363 Sunrise Blvd
Romney, WV. 26757

Main: 304-822-4561
ER: 304-822-4927

Lat/Long: 39.3336111 / -78.6975000

And for those staying at the Kool Wink rather than camping, we have these limited quantity special edition versions of the event shirts!

On top of Ol Smoky...
All covered with muds.

The Tenerists gather,
and become real good buds.

I know for a fact a lot of great pics have been snapped. But I'm betting they don't get all sorted and posted until these worn out hard riding tired folks get home.
Most still have long runs home to make.

I gotta tell ya it's worth all the effort to get here. And the hospitality is first class. CW and DD and Romney's staff are a first class team. Really.

As for the actual RIDING, I was fortunate to have been shown the ropes by trikepilot. I'm betting there were many great riding groups. But trikepilot's had the most fun. :)
Oh, and I love "Fancy", his bike!

Jaxon, if you thought mine was one big lump of dirt and corrosion, you gotta get your hands on this one.
Gonna have to dunk it in a penetrating oil bath before putting a screwdriver to it.
