Eeeeeeh....now you got me beat. I'll measure the inside of the cases when I get home from work (If I remember to...)

Here's my review of the same cases on my old DL650, clearer pics here;

http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=438542

There are raincovers included, but I would never use them...they would blow away I think. I always pack my stuff in a plastic bag, that way I'm sure it's dry. I'd trust the cases without the liner enough to ride in a drizzle, but if it gets any heavier => plastic bag time baby! :)

I already had one of the E460 Givi cases (the well-known round oval dismal donut-shaped UFO) and I'd rather die then have that brick of a thing on the back of my XT1200Z.
Hmmm, I may need to re-think my plan to use my E460 (off my FJR) for the tail trunk on my SuperT. :))

I do have concerns about using soft bags: the sun fades them terrible over time, zippers break over time or get jammed up, weather we mentioned already and security, bags are easy to break into.

After seeing reports from multiple people about the lack of security of softcases on a M/C, I do not use them unless I remove them every time I leave my bike anywhere. I carry them and only get ones that are easily carryable.
Leaving aside the 2-legged security issue, there are particulary sad stories about how Crows/Ravens have figured out that soft bags contain food. The Crows/Ravens have figured out how to unzip bags and if they are locked they rip/cut through them They then scatter stuff all over while digging into everything to find food.

Well the issues are well known. But in truth, whenever I need to use my luggage, I will travel to a hotel or campsite. So I'm on the bike the entire time, and when I reach my destination they are removed from the bike. I travelled the entire French Alps in 10 days last year, and I found that I never left the bike alone anyways. For the 1-2-3 times I carry luggage a year, the investment that is needed for alu cases is not justifiable.

And 2 padlocks help ease the mind :)

I'm trying to tell from the pics of the Nelson case open can you fit a fullface helmet in there? Also could you fit a laptop say 10x14"? Also how about weather are the Nelson's rated for rain?
I've taken all the measurements but I'm banished to the kitchen for the rest of the evening, I'll get the figures and pictures up tomorrow morning!

I then added the CL850's. Strapped right down, and the top straps can go under the passenger seat no problem!
THANK YOU! TooTall. My concern is no longer warranted. Spkldoe thanks you too! Your setup will be repeated except w/ smaller trekker top case w/ backrest on my S10...someday.

Took the measurements last night.

40cm long
28cm heigh
18cm deep

Hope that helps.

And some pics that might interest you all...

Schuberth C3 57 size

Sticks out a bit

But! The nice things about soft bags, you can still close them! Yes it's a bit of a fiddle, but it closes fine!

And I wonder what's in that Trekker 46L case...

That's a Schuberth C3 52 and 57!

Thanks for posting the pictures of the helmets in the 46L Trekker. I figured two would fit, but had not tried it yet.

I would love to pick one up but $700 is way out of my league for a helmet. l did get a nice deal on a Scorpion modular helmet which is pretty nice. No where near the C3 but I'm happy with it.

The Trekker cases are nice as well. I don't think they're out yet in the US though.

Those CL-850s are a great setup. I may get a set as a soft luggage complement to the Micatech hard cases. I think I will go with a standard GIVI 45 or 52 liter case as they fit helmets well and are more streamlined than the trekker.

Not a soft lugguage question, but does anyone know it the "seat clearance" of the Trekker 33L and 46L used as a top case is the same; i.e. does the 46L encroach an inch or so farther onto the pillion seat?

"The dimensions of these cases are: TRK33N: 20" x 16.2" x 9.1" TRK46N: 20" x 16.2" x 12.2"

Is my logic correct, the difference lies in the height so they would mount on the plate equally forward/rearward relative to the pillion perch? TIA.

They have the same footprint at the mounting base and mounting location, only difference is the height.
