Finally installed the WaspWerks 1" lowering links and slid the fork tubes up about 5/8". I also lowered the low seat as low as it will possibly go. Took the plastic sub-frame out from under the seat and cut down the rubber bumpers. Had to fab a new seat lock tab. This is about the lowest seat height that you can get. I have the pre-load backed off all the way on the front to get as much sag as possible. the rear pre-load is up a bit to compensate for a flatter head angle.

I have my forks at the same location and backed all the way off to 8 rings on preload, but my rear is jacked up with some preload. LOL

Okay, we now officially have someone we can direct those people to when the question comes up, "Hey, can you lower one of these things?". :D

save all that x rated stuff for when ya get here in person, I think it goes like - "it ain't very long, but it is as big around as a beer can" - hey you don't happen to be an Austin lad do you? 35 years ago I hung with a crew from Austin that moved to Alaska, you seem to have a similar humor. they were a great bunch, we had tons of fun O:) O:) O:)

the bars are nice, I was all jacked up about the welds and the poor quality control when I first put them on - truth is, sitting on the seat at 100mph ya just don't see the shitty looking welds. a bit of dirt also fixes the problem. they are a great design and fit the bike well.

Ya know it never ends once you tweek something you have to tweek something else. Due to lowering the bike I had to shorten the side stand so I added a bit more surface area to the foot. While I was at it I narrowed the handle bar width by a half inch on each side. anyway the chop goes on. 8) I will eventually need to shorten the center stand as well. ???

Hey Troll,

I saw somewhere you said you thought cutting the kickstand 1" was too much. We're tired of fighting with my wife's kickstand and definitely want to cut it down to size. What is happening at 1" that you feel it's too much?

Thanks.

I cut mine down by 5/8 on both. Keep in mind the thickness of the blade you use to cut with, just saying..
I cut mine 1/4" from the bottom to start. You can cut more as you like and test it out. I would do 1/2" to start. If you find the correct size pipe, you can use a short piece of that as a filler to weld to. Just added strength if you not a great welder... ::025::

Also if you are going to use a larger pad for the kickstand you'll need to factor that in as well.

Cheers

Just curious Troll, what is the ideal seat height are you looking to achiEve and how much have these mods helped you. Looks like you are getting some results.

Most times I feel like the bike is leaning just a bit too much, particularly if the ground is soft. I think if I had it to do over I would only shorten the kick stand between 5/8" or 3/4".

I didn't have a seat height in mind, I just wanted to do more than tippy toe at a stop. I have a 28 5/8" inseam on a good day. In stock trim this was a very tall bike for me. I am very comfortable with the bike now - no flat footing but a good solid balls of both feet on level ground.

Thanks, I'll try the 3/4 inch I guess. I appear to be the only person that finds my stock height bike to have too long a kickstand. It has become too much hassle trying to find a place to park the lowered bike and always needing to be a "spotter" before she climbs aboard.

At first I couldn't see the issue here. I have a lowered bike, 1" rear and nearly 1/2" front. I have a stock side/kick stand and have no problem with it. Then I realised in the US the camber of the road is different! I have great issue when parking on the wrong side of the road!! What about putting the kick stand on the other side of the bike ? ;D

We short arses should probably have one on each side! ::015::

I too lowered my ride. I bought the Soupy's Adjustable Lowering Links (http://www.soupysperformance.com/catalog/item/4408900/9047733.htm) and had them install my bike before I picked it up. They set them to the maximum low setting, and I bought the low seat with the plastic sub-frame removed. I have a 30' inseam, standing 5' 6" and I can actually stand up off the seat at a stop light and rock the bike back and forth between my legs. Freudian much?

Anyway, I have found that the stock kickstand could use an inch out of it, and it's on the project block, but what did you do about your center stand? I want to use it, but the bike is so low it is nearly impossible to put it up with only one person. When I picked it up, we rolled it around the dealership parking lot and the center stand nearly dragged on a speed bump. We took the center suspension up to as hard as we could, and it seemed to make the bike less prone to "bottoming out" on the center stand.
