Finally decided to pull the trigger on this boot and I've found it is not available in my size anywhere in the US. Sold out everywhere. Talked to Revzilla and they expect a shipment at the end of the month. They told me they sell out pretty quickly. They do offer to send you and email when the boot arrives, but you cannot get on a waiting list for them. Strictly first come first serve when they have the boot.

I'm not a big fan of ebay, but I did find this listing for $339 + $49 shipping.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/SIDI-Adventure-Gore-Tex-boots-Best-Gore-Tex-Version-/360587314699?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&var=&hash=item53f4adc60b

Price seems way too good to be US Dollars and I suspected it was really Euros. Wrote to the company and they confirmed this is USD. I've placed and order. I'm a bit uneasy ordering a boot from that far away, but they have a 100% rating and say it can be returned. We'll see what happens.

Note: If the above link doesn't work try searching for Sidi Adventure Gore-Tex. The seller is biker-land_de

Would sure like to know what you think of these boots, D_D. I have yet to meet a wearer of Gore-Tex "waterproof" boots who said they were actually waterproof. I'm beginning to think that "Gore-Tex" is some kind of San Antonio horror movie. Would sure be good to find some that are really waterproof. R ::008::

You'll have to let me know when you get them if they squeak as bad when walking as my non-goretex model. Love the boot, but guaranteed you're not going to sneak up on anyone.

Thanks for the heads-up...

I've read somewhere that you can put some type of substance on the squeaky parts to get them to quiet down. Guess I'll need to look that up.

Rem - I do hope I'll have a different result that what you've been told. If not, I'll be happy I paid less than $400 for them.

Rem, Back in 1999 I bought a pair of Sidi BMW Branded GoreTex boots. I still have them, resoled them once and with leather treatment on outside, they are still waterproof. I would say I have 100k miles on these boots. I just bought as a replacement last summer the AeroSTich Combat Lites as they are the only ones which fit onto my calves. They don't have GoreTex, but are also made by Sidi for Aero.
When I had the AeroSTich Darien with GoreTex, it would only leak when the outer coat was dirty, as in 6 or so months of grime on it. After I would wash with NIK treatment wash, and then waterproofing stuff which goes along with it would the jacket become waterproof completely again. I have the jacket for 10 years.
My wife is in apparrell business, and tells me the fibers of any "waterproofed" item fold over after dirt gets to them taking away their ability to repel water to the highest level. When we wash the garments, the fibers stand straight again regaining waterproofing ability.

I hope this helps some with info.

Jeff

10-4, thanks for that, Jeff. Seems like every person I've talked to says that their Gore-Tex boots would leak after a fairly short period of time. Thanks for taking the time. ::003:: R

Great boots. Between bicycling and motorcycling, I own five pairs of Sidis. I have a pair of Discos and they've been great. You occasionally see Sidi's on sale in the USA, bu it is rare. Motonation is the sole importer and they're ruthless about dropping any vendor who discounts.

Hope you don't have any custom or shipping issues. Not sure I'd order from Germany to save $10. (Most US vendors offer free shipping.)

I agree, not sure what to expect with customs or shipping. They say boots could be here as soon as 5 days. We'll see. Certainly wouldn't do it for a $10 savings. At the moment it's $111 savings. Even at that I would have preferred to buy closer to home, but they are just flat out not available from any US web site I could find. It wasn't a price thing, more an availability issue.

I'll admit it didn't help that a few minutes after committing to buy them I received an email from Revzilla telling me the Alpinestar Toucan boots arrived two months earlier than scheduled. It was a hard choice between the two, but I was probably slightly more interested in the Toucans. I even talked to Revzilla on Wednesday and they didn't expect them to arrive until sometime mid-April. So I went for the Adventures.

re: the squeak you can use mink oil which is what most folks I've heard recommend using. It does work, only for a short time though...i think once you get 'em dirty and dusty with the mink oil it actually attracts particles that make the plastic squeak against the pleather. Might just have to keep on it every couple weeks or so...

Yep!

WD-40 in the right spots works for my non-gor-tex. Very pleased with them. Water has not been a problem at all so far. About 4 weeks now and 1 weekend was in the water and slop with the KLR. They did fine. No leaks!

The fit and feel is great all day.
I just need to remember to take them off before I go to bed. ;D

Dirt Dad if you got them at that price you did real good. You beat the heck out of my non-gor-tex boot price.
Let us know what you think when you get them.

Didn't realize that Sidi has a higher-priced Gore-tex model as well as a cheaper model with a different membrane.

$500 for boots!? Wow. I paid about $250 for Discos ten years ago and thought this was steep. FWIIW, they've been waterproof even walking around in streams, so I'm not sure why one needs to spend so much more for these more expensive models, but as I said earlier, I'm sure they're great boots.

They better show up as the Gore-Tex version. That's what the ad said.

If anyone else wants to roll the dice with me it looks like they have most every size in stock.

I will certainly post up about how long they take to arrive and the experience.

Phil - tell us more about the Forma Adventures. I was pretty close to getting a pair when I came across a bunch of online reviews where riders scoffed at the idea of them being waterproof. Since I already have plenty of boots that leak water, anything I buy needs to be utterly waterproof. $300 is still expensive but it sure beats $500 for the Adventure Rains IF - and this is the big if - they are waterproof and hold up well.

Here is where I found them - http://www.atomic-moto.com/Forma-Adventure-Boots_p_788.html

How do they run for sizing? Wide or narrow? True to US size or is there a fudge factor? Have you had yours long enough to see how they stand up to a serious beating?

Actually the Adventure Rain is $400 in the US. Only the Adventure Gore-Tex goes for $500.

I'm also curious about the Forma Adventures. Not for me obviously, but once my wife gets riding again I'm going to need to upgrade her boot to something more protective than she's been wearing. How is the Forma Adventure during the hot weather?

I went to the Forma from the Alpinestar Scout.

I have an 11-4E foot and I went to the Forma based on reviews that they had a wider toe box. I found them to be spot on with sizing and a perfect fit for my wide foot.

One thing I have found is that they are great for footpeg standing with a nice firm sole while at the same time having a very comfortable flex for walking.

So far they have been absolutely waterproof. I have stood in water enough to cover the entire foot with not one leak. I was standing in this water for about 3-4 minutes.

As for besting them up in terrain, hard riding I'll report back in two weeks as I leave for a week of riding in the sand and desert of Death Valley on Wednesday with AltRider, Jimmy Lewis, and Johnny Campbell. That should resolve the durability question. To date though I would not hesitate to put them against anything out there based on my exposure with them. I did a 750 mile day last week and they were very comfortable with no need to remove them by day's end due to comfort, breathing, or fit. Temp range that day was from 32 to 73. No issues.

I have the Adventure Gore Tex and they are 100% waterproof.
I have them more than two years and still keep the water away. Expensive but a great boot.

Thanks!

I picked up slightly used SIDI Adventure Rain last year for $120 just before my Yukon trip and put on 20,000 Km in 6 weeks, yes they do squeak but never leaked. ::008:: ::008::
