Had time to do a little exploring on the Wee today, so we rode over to a place called Garrison Rock and Horse Thieves Cave. The cave got its name supposedly from Jessie James stealing horses and hiding them in there. [ All caves in the midwest have somthing to do with Jessie James ] Garrison Rock has some very old names carved in it and is fun to climb around on. Here is some pictures of the area over looking the DesMoinse River.

It would be like a major Honor for you to show up from Loveland,Co. to a ride we put on in southern Mo. Like we would need to get you some kind of trophy or cigar.
Hey - it doesn't take much to get me to ride to an event (or non-event)!!! I've ridden to Moonshine twice for a hamburger (a little over 1K miles each way)!!

;)

Let me know the next time you are riding to Moonshine, Rod. I am about 100 miles west of there, so it's on your way.

Eric and I went out to see what we could find this afternoon, There is lots of level B roads in Iowa.

This may look like the Wee is stuck but it will go right through stuff like this.

It has been raining a lot lately so the roads were dust free.

Low water crossings are nice

This old cabin is in Antioch, Iowa

Got out for another ride today, This could get addictive, Oh wait, I'm already addicted.

Eric catching some air.

Some ATV trail along the river.

Then the road gets tough. Remember yesterday I said that the Wee goes through about anything, In the next picture I'm behind the big KTM,

Now in this picture I'm in front of the big KTM

We worked hard to get him out of that one.

Yesterday a friend had the day off also so we loaded up his boys and went on a St. park ride. Clint just sold the old Venture and picked up this new 08 FJR.

First up for the day was this 1848 Pine Creek grist mill.

Then right around the corner is Wildcat Den St. park, So we took the boys for a hike through the trails there.

On our way to another park we came on this 1870 Hurst Lime Works.

At Maquoketa Caves St. Park there is lots of exploring and hiking for the kids.

Then it was off for home with 465 miles on the day

Today I got out for some Tenereing around. First up was a ride through Lacey-Keosauqua State Park

The Des Moines river runs through.

I wouldn't want to try crossing.

If you like Carp the fishing would be good.

Next up was the town of Bentonsport, Very historic with lots to see.

The roads are nice in the area too.

In Keosauqua is this land mark. then it was off to home.

Michelle and I wanted to go on a camping trip on the Tenere so we packed up and left when I got off work Saturday. We got rained out 10 miles from home so we came back to dry out and try again. It never stopped raining so we waited till Sunday morning. Our destination was the Loess Hills of western Iowa.

On the way we spotted this Historical marker.

We rode through Stephens St. Forest. To get there you cross this old bridge.

Then it was on to the Loess Hills.

The roads are good in the Loess Hills.

The Missouri River was flooded bad.

We found a nice place to camp for the night, No Bears in the area.

On the way home we spotted this.

We stopped at Lake Rathbun.

It was a fun 700 mile weekend.

She do's not like her seat . I will check into a nice seat for her, I love my seat. She is comparing it to the Venture seat she likes so much.
I need to get her comfy because I can't see ever riding the Venture again. My daughter and her hubby is on the Venture in Yellowstone right now.

Looks like an aftermarket saddle is a given for us as well. If momma is not happy - nobody's happy!
:)

Thanks for the feedback.

Got out for a 307 mile ride today. Wanted to head to the National Motorcycle Museum in Anamosa, Iowa. This is a nice place if you like vintage motorcycles.

On the way there I stopped by this bridge over the Cedar River. This is the Sutliff Bridge built in 1898 and the first span colapsed in 2008 during the flood. They are trying to rebuild it.

They have recently moved the Museum to a very handy location and a bigger building right off highway 151.

It would take hours to look at all the bikes in this place.

This was one of my fovorite ones, the Crocker.

On the way home I detoured through the Amana Colonies.
In 1855 German settlers established 7 villages known as the Amana Colonies. They were a communal life until the mid 1930s. Now they are just a big tourist attraction in Iowa.

The Tenere gets nicer every time I get to ride it. I need a VACATION!!!!
