I wouldn't say spring is here yet, but I had the day off so it's time for a ride around Iowa. My ultimate destination for today was Baxter's Cycle in Marne, Iowa. They are a Triumph and Royal Enfield dealer, and I heard they had a large show room of vintage bikes. It was 28 degrees when I hit the road this morning, and I ended up riding 410 miles.

There was a lot of generator windmills in western Iowa, and they are there for a reason. It is windy over there.

I came across this and thought it was worth a picture or two. This is the site of the first train robbery in the west.

I have seen this rock in a picture on the internet before but I had no idea where it was at, I just happened to come across it.

If you like vintage motorcycles, and these are all for sale. They even give you a 3 page listing of all the bikes and prices. Then Baxter's Cycle is a good place to check out.

If you can read this tag it says NEW 1977 The price is $18,995.

Thanks for reading, Steve

What a weekend so far for camping and riding here in IOWA.
First off was some trail riding along Des Moines.

Of course Eric had to hot dog it some.

Then we found one of the nicest places to set up camp.

Behind Eric you can see an island.

On the island across from our camp was a nesting Bald Eagle.

Then this morning I headed home and picked up Michelle and we rode 300 miles of back roads today.

This is a through public road, It had some swamps that we thought might bury the bike but it went right through.

Thanks for reading, Steve

Michelle wanted to drive her car to Church so she could wear her Easter dress, so Eric and I told her we would meet her there. We wanted to hit some trails on the way.

When you get to Church with mud on your boots you know it's a good Easter Sunday.

The Des Moines river was low so we could ride right down into it.

The trails are Great and the views where good.

Some steep climbs and descends too.

It was a good sermon at Church this morning too. Steve

Well its not exactly Saturday and I didn't always stay in Iowa today, but it was a great day to go on a ride. The other day while looking at google earth I found a through truss bridge that I have never seen before, so I snuck across the southern border into MO.ngolia (I used a back road because I didn't have my passport with me)
The bridge turned out to be for foot traffic only, but it was sure fun finding it.

The gravel roads are a blast in MO.

The dirt roads are really good too.

Then I came across the best jeep road I have ever seen in the area.

It was good at first and just kept getting better and better.

Then I came out to this old Traiding Post.

Then more dirt roads.

Then I stopped by this old Through truss for a picture.

On the way home I went through Stiles, Iowa. Not much left in town.

Thanks for reading. Steve

Eric and I rode to Des Moines to check out the cycle shops today, nothing going on at all, waist of time . But on the way home we hit some new ATV trails we had never been on.

First we stopped in Bussey for a picture.

Then it was to the trails.

There was old coal strip pits too.

Hill climbing with a 100 HP bike is a blast.

Thank's for reading. Steve

Well it was a nice Thankgiving day here in Iowa so I started the morning off with a ride.
First up was a ride over to our son and Daughter in law's property, they have 20 acres of woods.

Then I rode out to a railroad bridge about a mile from were I grew up.
If you look close above that white painted name you'll see a faded S.R. + M. H.
I sprayed that on there about 39years ago when Michelle would have been 14 years old.

Then it was back home for a nice Thanksgiving Dinner.
After we ate Eric and Joey and I went for a ride while the girls played some board games.

Then on a remote dirt road I asked Eric if we could catch air off a hump in the road. He went back and hit it at 65 and really flew.

I was too chicken to go that fast , so my attempt was a little lame.

We had a lot of fun on this Thanksgiving day.

Nice pictures, wen I saw you beside your bike I thought that was a video of you doing a interview or something :), I pressed the arrow, but nothing happened, it's only the design on your jacket. :D

I see what you mean, Them are Nito jackets we bought off Iron Horse.com they were $33. Cheep but not bad for something to play in the dirt with.

Great weekend for riding, Hope all of you got out to enjoy it.
Yesterday I rode with Eric and My daugter in law to a streem crossing that we had never crossed.
Can't wait to get the Tenere over there and cross it.

Then today Michelle and I went out for a ride on the real bike.

Then we stopped by and picked up Eric and Kristi for some real riding.

Any time you ride with a BIG 990 you can fined the good stuff.

That's it till next Saturday, Thanks for reading.
Steve
