Yes, the banks' incompetence and government involvement/blindness has seriously damaged our ability as a nation

the USA is a representative republic not a democracy.... guided by a constitution and protected by the bill of rights... and since the founding America has been on a journey not always perfect , and sometimes through great struggle.... but still the best hope in a sometimes dark world....

All I know is around here we are completely overrun by illegal mexicans, latinos, whatever. I don't intend to call them a name that infers I'm a "hater", but my gosh. My sister has a decent job with a power company serving a lot of Denver and due to the overrun of illegals they only hire workers that speak spanish. If you don't speak spanish, you don't work. How is that for fair chance of hire? You must be able to communicate in full with illegal people to work? Main criteria of hire is the applicant can effectively communicate will illegal mexicans? This is so not right it is criminal in my book. I say if Trump does 1% of what he has promised it has to be a step in the right direction.

The USA is a strong, robust democracy, probably the best democracy on this planet. I believe that no elected man or women president can unhinge/derail or endanger it.

Personally, I think Trump will end up changing little. The USA like the UK needs to make more money then all the problems will diminish.
Eight years ago the bubble burst and thousands of people were applying for a single job. AT the time I was still self employed, I would receive dozens upon dozens of phone calls a day from people looking for work, and maybe 1 needing my services. People would even stop me on the street begging for any work I might have for them, the look in their eyes was flat out scary.
Through a little luck and a lot of spending by our government we averted a disaster, many people do not realize that a big reason for the bailouts of GM for example were Pensions. Will it work the next time around? well it depends who is at the helm and who they are surrounded by.
I am by no means an expert, but as someone who loves history I can see where this bus is headed.....

How do you know they are Illegal, because they speak Spanish?

My Great Grandmother came to America @ 13 and I still could not understand her @ 93

As many illegals there are working, there are as many people hiring them, they don't have to pay worker comp, health ins, taxes, etc for these workers. I will bet almost all 'illegals' would be more than happy to pay taxes to become legal, that of course would mean the the companies hiring would be forced to pay more in wages...... It's a vicious circle that the poorest end up being victimised. If they are doing these jobs it must mean that there is a need for them. There are also a lot of farms throughout EU that hire cross-border workers on a day rate to avoid paying taxes and it's legal.

we share a border with Mexico , and for the most part the Mexican people are as good as any on the planet... the problem is legal, they by in large broke the law to get here,,, we owe them " nada " .... the programs that are set up in our country are for Americans . go live in Mexico illegally and see what they do for you... when found you will be arrested and in time deported.... but the Mexican government thinks their illegals should have all the rights of Americans ..... if Canadians come here illegally they should be deported too... or who ever... every sovereign nation on earth protects its borders and its people from illegals.... we are a nation of immigrants , there is no other nation like this nation, we love immigrants because ( unless your native American , who probably consider us all illegals ) we are all immigrants... but we have to be a nation under the law , and some politicians think you can pick and choose what laws to obey or not. anarchy is not a way of life its death to a nation .... something needs to be done , and I think it will , that's was the jist of the trump victory... and amazingly the constitution will guide us through all of this if the leaders will follow it...

Getting back to the subject of this thread - President Elect Trump - this craziness isn't over as there is a very real chance that Trump may be in office for only a short period before we have President Pence.

http://www.cnn.com/2016/11/15/politics/allan-lichtman-professor-predicts-trump-impeachment-erin-burnett/index.html

The guy pointing this out is the Presidential Historian who has been right on a number of predictions, largely because he is well connected and does his homework.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Allan_Lichtman

He is pointing out that Trump has alienated himself from the Republican Party (and certainly everybody else), plus created multiple opportunities for Congress to impeach him. It would also make Congress look like it "listened to the people" who have been protesting ever since the election. This is the kind of win-win that politicians dream of. On top of those thoughts, Trump's bringing in Pence brought a potential President that conservatives would far rather have.

Even if Congress doesn't impeach him, Trump has been called Mafia Don for a long time and for good reason. http://thefederalist.com/2015/07/28/how-close-was-donald-trump-to-the-mob/ Just like Al Capone was never arrested or convicted for murder or robbery, he was jailed for tax evasion, a RICO conviction on the university trial could mean actual jail time! http://www.politico.com/blogs/under-the-radar/2016/06/donald-trump-racketeering-claim-trump-university-224517

A former boss of ours who had worked in the Clinton White House liked to say that if you want a friend in Washington, get a dog.

I really dislike posting on these type of threads. I always read so many assumptions and opinions given as fact without basis. If it's said enough times on the internet then it becomes true. Not picking on you Madhatter, we've met and you're a good guy. I'm only commenting on the first two and then putting this thread on ignore. I prefer to spend my time riding than getting involved in internet debates.

"for the most part"? really
They are absolutely 100% as good as any other on the planet.. Travel a little, you'll find good and bad everywhere in this world. Don't know if your statement was subliminal or not but troubling.

A very large portion if not the majority did not. They broke the law in staying here. Entered legally but have overstayed illegally. So the stupid wall does nothing for them or the drugs that come via air or through tunnels. If Mikhail Gorbachev is still alive after it's completion, I would pay money to see him visit Mexico, stand at the wall and demand "Mr. Trump..Mr. Trump...tear down this wall"

As I said in my previouse post I think he will (be persuaded to) step down for health/personal reasons, as an impaechment would be drawn out and messy. Also, if your a Republican in either house, the sooner the better.
This is just my view, from across the pond. ;)

I think and believe that the president elect will surprise most , not because he is an angel... the world knows he is not... he loves this nation and will do what is right or what is right as he can.... and the journey will continue... Hillary in the end it will be shown , is the person the right says she is.... where there is smoke there is fire.... and if she road motorcycles she would ride a BMW.... some of our forum members will not agree with me as at this time I would not agree with them, its our right as Americans to exercise the first amendment ... of course this forum is about the worlds most reliable, stable, trust worthy motorcycle ever made , something most members of this forum can agree on.... I am impressed that this post has remained civil , and has generated some activity among members.... things have been stale and slow , till Yamaha does something to get us all riled up this may have to do.... so if trump was to ride what would he ride ? I think vespa.
