Congratulations to Donald Trump, indeed the whole Trump Team.

Despite the problems during her campaign, I had Hillary down to win, but my wife was spot on. She reckoned, like we saw with Brexit over here, that the disadvantaged folk in the 'Rust Belt' coupled with a disconnect in Florida, would turn the US Red again. The move away from the old Political Elites.

Interesting times ahead ..................... KEN

Don't worry you will be neutral again and just hold everyone's coat (and Gold) while they scrap it out ::008::

Problem is Rasher, I'm not Swiss!! ::010:: We live in interesting times. We have to remember, things will never be like the 'good old days', because they probably were not good anyway, even now we live in an ever tighter 'global' community, not insular, as much as people want to believe that. We (each country) have expanded into areas that we (globally speaking) cannot just disconnect from or withdraw. So we make the best of it, or move, like we did ::013::

Way to go Trump! Kick some ass and start taking names. About time. Now if we could just replace that bozo we have here. NA could become great again.

Dare we mix politics and bikes? I'm just glad it's finally over. People voted for Trump looking for changes that never seem to happen. We went from Carter-Reagan-Bush-Clinton-Bush-Obama and now Trump. It's always business as usual. Nothing seems to change. Maybe this time it will be different. As for us disadvantaged folks in the "rust belt" there are lots of jobs available here. Thing is most of them are in the skilled trades. There simply aren't enough young people that are willing to actually work to fill those jobs.

Correct, you either adapt, overcome or change, otherwise progress will never happen, does anyone think horses were happy with the advent of the motor vehicle in the early 1900's?
What is most laughable is when someone says they are not a politician, then enter politics. But once you enter politics, guess what? You're now a politician. if I drive a taxi, then I'm a taxi driver. My point being, politicians will keep doing what they always do, over promise and under deliver, yet we fall for this ruse over and over again. This is not unique to the US, it is in every democracy, at least with a dictatorship you kind of know where you stand.................... at the very bottom.

This should be an interesting 4 years. People are fed up and this is the result...it remains to be seen if this falls under the "be careful what you wish for because you might get it" axiom.

same as the EU vote here, for sure some used it to protest against the government and the ex prime minister admitted they never planned for a lose result!
UKIP fed off people turning against the same old 2 party merry go round and the same old career politicians looking after their mates in big business and the banks

sounds like both sides of the pond have an interesting few years in store! I bet Germany and others in the EU are sweating a bit too,

After years of hearing promises, and then not seeing them carried out, I find myself doubting. But, he is the first President of the US to not have a military or political background. For better or worse, I don't think the next four years will be business as usual. And I whole heartedly agree with the need for young people stepping up.

HOO-YA America!!

I did not vote for him, but saw the "draw" to him, we are tired of the DC machine, career politicians working for themselves not us. I did not vote for Obama either, but saw the draw to him.

IMO: if you vote for Obama because he is new and shiny then you should not have supported Clinton, but I see so many folks that are pro-Obama and anti-Trump......WHY?

To me he is our first genuine hope of someone that will actually have a chance of doing some good since Ross Perot ran for president back in 1992.

Yes, I remember Ross Perot. I voted for him in '92 and '96. His predictions about American jobs certainly came true. I remember watching him on the debates against Bill Clinton and George W Bush. He got almost 20 million votes nationwide in '92. Too bad more people didn't take him seriously.

Totally agree with AvGeek.

As for the election, I'll just add that I strongly believe that the process needs to change. Regardless of who YOU voted for, the Electoral College Game is putting into place the FIFTH President whom the popular vote chose AGAINST!!! That is five out of 45 Presidents!!!

The process we now have is actually very much how the process works in China, of all places. We vote for local electors, and THEY vote for who goes to the higher offices. As a second issue, I'm sure you saw the headlines of the one elector who said that no matter who his constituents voted for, he would not vote for one candidate. Glad I don't live in his district!

The Electoral College was thought of when travel was difficult in an agrarian society. The broken old rust-bucket clunker needs to be scrapped and replaced.

Glad it's over - for now.
