Hey guys I've had some inquiries regarding a Fall "Leaf Peeping" Ride in the Ozarks this fall. I've done some checking around and this is what I've came up with.
Weekend of November 2nd (Friday) through 4th ( Sunday) at The Hub

I've got 9 rooms reserved. 3 singles and 6 doubles. The singles have a king size bed, the doubles have two queen sized beds. The rate is $60/night. The number is 800-597-9963 They are booked under my last name "Wise".

The Hub is located in Marble Falls, Newton County, Arkansas ( GPS Coordinates N36.11346 W93.12447 ) and you will have fun riding the roads just to get to the place!

...been to the Hub - had a grand time.
Some of the surrounding counties have "dry" outlooks on alcohol - no beer or anything with spirits sold.
Ask the locals for the nearest "git" shops.

Not sure I'll make it - but have fun just the same.

Actually Boone County voted "wet" last year. Frosty post leaf peeping beverages are less than 10 miles away. Debbie told me that someone has a permit to build a liquor store on the Newton/Boone County line which is less than 2 miles from the Hub. She is not sure if it will be built by the time we get there. Progress is slowly making it into those hills.

Look forward to meeting you and the better half. Let me know if you have any problems getting a room. Will you show up on Thursday late or Friday? LMK, J

Hey James. We're taking the day off Friday and will be at the hotel shortly after checkin I would guess.

The plan is for me to take an extra half day off Thursday and bring the golden and weimaraner into a kennel. then when the wife gets off work at 4PM, begin the journey south late that afternoon. Hopefully get an hour or two south of the MO border.

Karson, glad you got the reservations. I assume your wife will be riding with you and I will plan the routes accordingly.

Terry, it sure seems like you get down here quite a bit. I can't make the run this weekend, but I look forward to our paths crossing at some point.

My wife has given me the blessing to check out the fall colors. Will be coming up out of Texas. Going to check on some camp grounds. Anyone else camping?

Any other folks' wives/girlfriends planning on making the ride? This would be sara and my first ride of any distance together, and hopefully someone else will come with the s/o so it's a good time for her, too

Hey, I just got off the phone with Debby at The Hub and they have campsites for $10/night. Running water and a shower facility. There is a fire pit available as well. you can call her at 800-597-9963 if need be. Also there is a private campground called Shady Oaks that's about 3 miles away in Boone County near Harrison, North of Marble Falls.

Looks like I might be able to make this ride. I was planning a DS adventure ride out of Marble Falls in May as part of an MSTA event, but family issues about killed off all my April/May bike plans. My plan would be to ride to Ar on Thursday and explore Friday and Saturday and ride back home Sunday. I am debating doing either this with the ST, or a strickly off road ride based out of the Brock Creek riding area with my daughter. Brock Creek is pretty cool, 1/2 the area is single track motorcycle only with some very difficult sections. (http://www.jennyandterrythompson.com/BCtoHC.htm) of which it would be crazy to take the ST on, though it could probably do some of the ATV routes in the rest of the park.
Terry

Lots of fun stuff to find, been dual sport riding for quite a few years in the area. I have a ton of off road tracks from Arkansas to potentially explore. Though the majority of them were done with a DRZ400 or Husky TE250 so some of the more difficult stuff would need to be bypassed to use the Tenere. I have some 4X4 tracks from an Arkansas friend that has shown me around AR motorcycle off road stuff for years who 4 wheels in a Toyota that the ST could probably do, though I haven't been on them myself.

I am leaning towards the ST ride for now, it would cost me less and I'm somewhat broke at the moment for a while. Last April, my daughter and I spent 4 days riding in the Mill Creek-White Rock area. of Arkansas. the water falls in these pictures are probably doable to get to for a part of a ride out of Marble Falls, on the St's.
