Empty as in it says “e” or empty as in the bike sputters and dies?2013 model. I have ran the tank empty and only took 5.1 gallons to fill up. Can not get to use the total 6 gallons in the tank, doe anyone else have this problem?
So. . . . what you're telling us is that the "fuel capacity" of 6.1gallons that Yamaha lists . . . . is actually 6.1 gallons of total volume. . . . not usable capacity?. . . . It will hold 6 gallons of fuel. But you need to have that neck drilled or punched a hole in it so it can fill all the way up. . . .
Did this to the GSX1400 i had , i used a punchBut you need to have that neck drilled or punched a hole in it so it can fill all the way up. It will hold a lot more fuel than just stopping when the pump first shuts off.
I have ridden to the station trying to die, [without pushing] and put in 6 gallons to the brim. I would say if you are trying to use that last .1 you will be pushing.So. . . . what you're telling us is that the "fuel capacity" of 6.1gallons that Yamaha lists . . . . is actually 6.1 gallons of total volume. . . . not usable capacity?
And riding back from a Romney with skinny Steve, I put in 5.95 and he put in 5.5. After that I controlled the fuel stops!I have ridden to the station trying to die, [without pushing] and put in 6 gallons to the brim. I would say if you are trying to use that last .1 you will be pushing.
Only if you can fill it to the brim.As I'm known for putting 5.5 gal into my 5.75 capacity VStrom, I need to know the truth! Can I count on 6 gallons usable?
And to do that you have to punch a hole on the right side of the filler tube up high. I used a nail or could use a punch. I held it with vice grips and wrapped in a shop rag. Hit it with a hammer. This lets you slowly fill up into the filler tube.Only if you can fill it to the brim.
